Woll Smoth
IGN knows what they are talking about.
redx165
I think it's funny how IGN and Gamespot decide not to let GTA V have the GOTY award. They obviously don't want the best game of the year to win the award, so they choose some other rubbish games. LOL GTA V is getting its ass whooped against a better game. Its called The Last of Us. Look at my signature with the link towards GOTY lists. So Skyrim is better than TLoU? Good to know, good to know LOL for now, we need another title called GOTG so we compare all GOTY to see which game is the best in its generation. Themonsterhunter
Honestly at this point GOTY is just a stupid title that everyone slaps on their game to sell better. All that really matters is your own personal opinion about the game. Geralt of Rivia
SmoothGetaway
I rate games based on how much I play them. GTAV wins that easily, and that's all that matters to me. GTA and RDR are pretty much the only games I played last year anyway.

Going off GOTY awards (Which I keep telling you don't matter, but you keep insisting), that also goes to Skyrim. EDIT: I misread. That would be interesting indeed. But still, it'd be as useless as GOTY awards are. Edited January 12, 2014 by TheMasterfocker
iProinsias
Tbh, I and many other people don't give a sh*t if it wins a GOTY or not. The game isn't even perfect, nor near it. There are flaws in the game. ...no way!? A game that has flaws?!

They rarely represent how I feel, and never effect my opinion of what I like or dislike. Not to mention there are too many sources handing out awards these days, whether it be for music, tv, or videogames.

And besides this (which is true), who made IGN the arbiter of "best game of the year"? There are tons of websites/magazines that have GOTY awards, why should anyone care if IGN didn't call GTAV the best, especially those of us who thoroughly enjoyed it? This thread is pointless. krashr
these awards don't mean much to my own personal enjoyment, however i think if r* wanted to, they could easily have made a game that ticked all the boxes.. unfortunately they and other developers seem to be pushing for online a little too much and trying to force core gamers that don't want to go there, to go there. i have no qualms with people wanting to play online, i personally don't want to and each to their own. whilst i love the game and have loved the series for a long time, i feel that there shouldn't be things removed from single player in an attempt to force people online.. not being able to take photos is one little example, but it's the large amount of little things that can sometimes make a big difference. imagine the type of awesomeness they would have incorporated into the core game to compete with other AAA titles if there was no such thing as online.. the way it stands, it's almost as though they went backwards with a few things that should've gone forward. having said all this, i still get much enjoyment from this game.
