VizCount
Hey MK, Ok...so I had a similar problem with my GTA 4 as well. I also have a strong PC rig as you do and couldn't F'n understand how this could be happening. I even installed a fresh copy of GT4 with no mods and still this BS was going on. The error I was getting was the notorious " GTAIV.exe has stopped working" What worked for me was this... 1) Running GTA 4 in Compatibility mod (Vista SP2) 2) Running GTA 4 as Admin 3) Applying the 4GB patch. 4) Commandlines (-availablevidmem "X" adjusted to give me 4GB of MEM) But I actually have a 6GB GPU, but GTA 4 will not take advantage of all the memory..(If someone could help me with this that would be awesome???) 3*) GTA 4 is a 32-bit app, and this app naturally only tries to access 2GB of a certain portion of RAM. Next time you're playing GTA 4 and it crashes press the "windows button" on your keyboard to jump to desktop, then open up task manager. You'll see GTA 4 not accessing over 2GB of (private working set memory). LINK to 4GB patch > http://ntcore.com/4gb_patch.php NOTE: Apply patch to GTAIV.exe, not the Launcher. I believe you need to apply patch on every restart of your PC, but not 100% sure. Let me know if this cured your headache..cheers Edited January 19, 2014 by VizCount
