4l3k54
If i say anything i'll be just repeating what other members said Single-Player is pretty long, i read that speedrunners needed more than 8 hours to complete the main story mode. Missions are good and non-repeating -> they take you from gangs, across organized crime to secret service. Multiplayer is awesome. Besides the Gang Wars and Everyone-For-Himself there a lot of user-created fun modes
DylRicho
User-created fun modes? Any chance of the server names? I've only come across s0beit's...
Weirdo.
You can't buy the V1 in stores.Just buy the original game (V2) and if your going to mod then download the patch to V1 Simple. I know it's wrong to say this, but just get v2 and get a version one crack. Unless you're sick enough to want the elusive Hot Coffee Mod, in which case you would have to get version one, as v2 is missing models.
Ryan
V1 isn't sold anymore. Only V2 is available. With that being said though, buying V1 offers no real advantage over V2. You can still play SA:MP, and you can still mod the game. Only noticeable difference is that CJ is unable to have sex with the girlfriends in V2. Aside from that, you can do everything else on both versions. The PC version of the game offers so much opportunity with it. Custom mods, multiplayer. The game is so cheep nowadays, you'd be crazy not to get it.

Weirdo.
^ Uh-huh-huh-huh, you can't mod v2 thanks to PatrickW and his twisted mind. Yes you can. Just use the downgrader patch. I meant on vanilla v2. And the v2 downgrader has a few problems. Such as: - It's incompatible with regular save-games. For whatever reason, it needs its own special save type. - Mods that are compatible with v1, are not compatible with a downgraded v2. Like some script and .asi mods. It's real picky with those types of mods, it'll spit up errors and crash for unknown reasons. - It just crashes the game randomly. Sometimes in Los Santos, leaving CJ's mom's house will come up with a black screen with 'Ganton' at the lower right-hand corner. Sometimes the game doesn't load a save game properly; it will just get stuck will loading. I personally wasn't satisfied when I used this patch. Very... "on the edge," if you will. Ryan
- It's incompatible with regular save-games. For whatever reason, it needs its own special save type. No it does not. A V2 game that has had the downgrader patched used on it still has V2 save files. - Mods that are compatible with v1, are not compatible with a downgraded v2. Like some script and .asi mods. It's real picky with those types of mods, it'll spit up errors and crash for unknown reasons. I've never heard tell of this. - It just crashes the game randomly. Sometimes in Los Santos, leaving CJ's mom's house will come up with a black screen with 'Ganton' at the lower right-hand corner. Sometimes the game doesn't load a save game properly; it will just get stuck will loading. It doesn't matter what version you have or if you've used the downgrader patch or not. Any game is bound to crash randomly some times. I've used a normal V2 game and a Downgraded V2 game and both have crashed periodically on me during use. There is nothing to prove that the downgrader patch causes this.
DylRicho
One handy tip though, if you're buying it for Windows Vista or Windows 7 is to run the game as administrator. That normally solves problems. And I've read somewhere that disabling Vista's/7's User Account Control will allow you to save games with less problems than if you were to save them with it enabled. A v1 savegame will not load at all and crash midway, that I can comprehend. But a v2 savegame should work fine. If I'm not wrong, the downgrader only patches the gta_sa.exe file; it does not make any changes to the script files.
DylRicho
It stops responding on me every time I try to load a normal v1 or v2 save-game. a) Does your computer account name have a dot in it? b) Tried running it as administrator? (Vista/7) c) Tried disabling User Account Control? (Vista/7) d) Tried reinstalling? Edited July 11, 2010 by Dylricho

NikoGTA4
Yeah, man it is really worth it. GTA San Andreas is a true classic and will always be one of the best games ever. It's always fun to play older GTAs after all these years

Jass5991
Dude GTA San Andreas is THE Best. Yet some people say VC is better. A matter of personal opinion i guess. If you're still thinking about it, try checking out ign.com and other game review websites. GTA SA got a higher overall score than IV (OMG!!!) And get a cheat device like CodeBreaker or Action Replay Max (get the CodeBreaker if you don't mind less features like the regional free DVD player, and more codes, get ARMax if you only have a PC, no Mac will do best with it, and less codes). San Andreas is fun with codes like spawn FBI Trucks and zero gravity when holding L1, etc. I'm sorry if your PC, but if you got an XBox, they all exist. Señor El Roboto
Is San Andreas better than IV? Game Play YES!. Graphics not as good. Game play vs. Looks. I perfer San Andreas. Yeah, I agree with this. I mean, yeah the graphics don't seem that great anymore but hey, gameplay over looks I think (unless the graphics are unbearable). San Andreas is a very fun game that could keep you playing it for a while. I play it more than IV
massrcor
Is San Andreas better than IV? Game Play YES!. Graphics not as good. Game play vs. Looks. I perfer San Andreas. If by gameplay you mean storyline, then yes. But if you mean overall gameplay mechanics, then no. How can you say that GTA sa, with it's canned animation, has better gameplay than GTA IV with it's euphoria engine? Yeah I just ran over all these ppl, and hey! they all died the exact same way! Not to mention the bikes stop way to fast and turn on a dime. The cars handle unrealistically also. The fact it aims at everyone but the person who's shooting at you is awesome. (also in GTA III and VC) conclusion: GTA SA Still kicks major ass, besides those minor gameplay faux pas. (which i never noticed until I played IV) So I suggest playing the sh*t out of it, as i do to this day! Because the storyline is EPIC!!!
