ive done numerous Sim Races of rFactor, and LFS that have went on between 6 hours all the way up to 24 hours. the game lets you switch out between players in your team or AI. Some people think they know it all including quantum physics on here...

I quit "Dipping In" while I was winning because the damn host decided 5 laps would be fun. I wanted a reason to leave so I intentionally crashed at lap 3. But 99 laps? You must be f*cking patient.

Try doing a 50 lap race on Nurburgring (12.93 miles) in E class cars in Forza.

The prize was 500 million, I won it after 6 hours straight.

Is it Forza 4? If so, I know exactly what you mean. I'm not wasting 6 hours in Germany's huge backyard in compact cars to get 500 million in virtual money.

I used to do the 24hr endurance races on GT too, often doing a couple of hours at a time with my PS2 being on pause for days on end!

Ha! I used to so the same thing. I also used to rubber band my controller on the Daytona 500 just to come in last due to the payout being 10k. I did it about 10 times so I could upgrade my car and buy the next car class.

why the f*ck would anyone ever race in a video game if they are not being paid IRL for it? lol. now, if you could save, turn the console off, then that is fine... but 24 hours non stop or just leaving the console on pause? wtf over.... just do a shorter race on harder settings.

 

 

Yeah man like I said before on GT5 at first you couldn't save them so I never tried them and after they finally put in the opition to save I did. Took me like 2 weeks. Haha and on GT3 did that rubber band trick others have said.

Not -EVERY- thread gets turned into a competition by me. I do like to compete though, it's in my blood and I love it quite frankly. Nothing feels better than competing, you know it as well. Especially when you win, such a great feeling.

They didn't make it though, called it quits after around the 15 hour mark.

They got $250 since technically, they came in second.

Some poor sap actually did the whole 24hrs and placed 4th, took his prize money, and passed the f*ck out sitting in his car out in the parking lot.

Here's a little more exciting 99 lap story:

 

I was doing Criminal Records, and 3 other players were choosing to replay each time. It wasn't long before they decided that taking me off the track was their best bet, so they all started working together on me. A smashin', bashin', good time..!

 

So, after a couple rounds of abuse, I decided to make these guys regret f*cking with me. Just before the time ran out, I switch from 1 lap to 99. I like to think they may not have noticed right away.

 

It wasn't long into that when 2 of them turned around, and proceeded to try and hit me head-on. It worked a few times, but for how many times I out smarted their approach, and for how many times I lured him into hitting the guy who's "job" was to get 1st-- I definitely feel I got the best of them. They did quit replaying after that.

 

Placing first would've been impossible, but the fact that I was already on lap 92 when 1st place finished made me proud enough.

 

I will never spend another ~1.5 hours doing that, though. lol

 

Oh, yeah-- one of the funniest moments was when everyone's car got all f*cked up, slow and hard to turn, then all the sudden they found me in a brand-new ride. Apparently, they had no idea how to repair a car mid-race until they saw me phase out. lmao

 

I used that "phasing out" on them a few times, too. Right when they thought they were about to smash me head-on, I'd disappear into thin air...

If I had to 99 laps in one of the races on this game, you'd have to pay me (not in GTA dollars) and you'd probably have to hold my eyes open like in "Clockwork Orange".

I disagree Ghost. If you had enough players that you knew were going to stay, it would be way fun. It's an endurance trial - I'd love to do 99 laps on a fun track with players who would stay. I think it would have to be something high speed with shallow turns, like Exhaust Fumes or Terminal Velocity... (don't know 5's tracks well enough yet to name many or choose any).

man i just could not do it in gta.... not 99 laps. maybe 20.

 

on nascar or some other real racing game, sure, ill go 500 with ya. or we can just meet at the track IRL ill bring the demon.

Just realized, that if you did that many laps in E class cars, it would take far more than 6 hours to complete given that S class cars can do a sloppy lap in about 7:30 minutes.

I ever set 99 laps to race alone in Criminal Records. After 2nd lap, I thought "I have something else better to do" and then I quit.
