It was on Old Dowtown (as named on R* website).

Trafic on. It lasted something like 24 hours ingame. Half an hour IRL I guess.

 

I losed. Whatever, it was insane. That f*cking trafic man... And at the end, the first got 10k. We were only two then. The 4 others left during the race. This was too much for them. Some just started going backward after only 5 laps.

I wanted to finish. I though I could have big money at the end. Even if I don't win. Oh no. Oh no you crazy bastard.

I cracked up. I shouted so loudly thank God no one came, thinking I was murdered or such.

 

I'll never do it again, never.

I used to do the 24hr endurance races on GT too, often doing a couple of hours at a time with my PS2 being on pause for days on end!

Lol dude its part of the game why would I lie. At first you couldn't save so u couldn't turn yo ps3 off. So I never played them. When a update came I did them cause u could save them and come back. But for GTA nah. I only did enough races to get all the mods so I don't race as much now. Knowing I would only get 10k not for me. But idk maybe one day just for the experience.

Somebody tried that already and posted a video here (can't remember the thread,sorry) and I think the earnings cap out after 6 or 7 laps anyway so there isn't much difference in winnings past a certain point.

why the f*ck would anyone ever race in a video game if they are not being paid IRL for it? lol. now, if you could save, turn the console off, then that is fine... but 24 hours non stop or just leaving the console on pause? wtf over.... just do a shorter race on harder settings.

i did a 3 lap on a f*cked up server and got billions for it. also my rp jumped like 50 levels so i rage quit.

 

that was my first encounter with dns bullsh*t.

I disagree Ghost. If you had enough players that you knew were going to stay, it would be way fun. It's an endurance trial - I'd love to do 99 laps on a fun track with players who would stay. I think it would have to be something high speed with shallow turns, like Exhaust Fumes or Terminal Velocity... (don't know 5's tracks well enough yet to name many or choose any).

IRL the 24hrs race is driven by multiple drivers in shifts, so if gran turismo accommodated that, it would be more accurate.

OP, in the first few weeks of gtao, this was a troll technique, get a full lobby desiring to level up doing criminal records, when it appeared everybody was on board, host would switch lap values from 2 to 99 and leave, it was a backlash from so many players only racing that one race.

When GTA5 first went online, I joined a Criminal Records race with five people. The host started quickly and I didn't notice that he'd set it for 99 laps.

Once we got going, it was fun. The first dozen or two laps had us chatting and laughing over the mic, taunting and prodding each other to crash, etc.

But once we got into the higher 20's, it became a different tone. Grumpy voices replaced jovial chatter. One guy quit. Then two. Three.

Eventually, everyone quit, even the host. I lost count of what lap I was on (it didn't show up early on in GTAO) and just kept grinding.

By the end, I survived the 99 laps, too. It was grueling and I was really disappointed that I got stuck in such a situation.

I forget the rewards, but they weren't so great to justify such a tribulation.

endurance races man. they exist. 24 hour races 500 laps races. the worst part of gran turismo but it had to be done

I quit "Dipping In" while I was winning because the damn host decided 5 laps would be fun. I wanted a reason to leave so I intentionally crashed at lap 3. But 99 laps? You must be f*cking patient.

Last time I did 99 laps was on GT3 on the oval track.

We did 99 laps on through the Grapevine once.
