Well basically, I'm getting another PS3 for my living room, I just want to know if my Online character will still be there on the the new PS3/Cloud? As stupid as this question may seem, I realise your Online character has it's own save data that's non-transferable.

 

I don't want to log-in on my new PS3 and have to start over again.

If one PS3 is signed in, and another PS3 signs in with that same account, it will kick the first PS3 off. The character is linked to the account though so whichever PS3 you play with, it will retain any GTAOnline data since it's saved to the R* cloud servers.

You couldn't play both at the same time with only 1 disc anyway, you'd need 2 discs to play and 2 different characters. If you got a downloaded version, I think you can verify and have it on up to 2 now, but again you need 2 PSN screen names on the 1 account at the minimum.

Just copy all of your GTA save data to your new PS3 just incase.

...i can log into my email on multiple computers. A better response would have been logging into an IM like oovoo or aim. Skype seems to work though so i left that one out

I haven't been under any rock, I'm very aware how the internet works, thank you. As I said, there's a non-transferable save file, it's possible that save file connects to the cloud and authenticates your data, and if it's missing you have to restart all over.

Obviously that isn't the case here though, but I'd rather be 100% sure than lose hours upon hours of progress.

 

I know people who have genuinely had issues switching PS3's, and to start over, which is why I asked if it's possible.

Arent You able to link two PS3s together via ethernet cable and use the data transfer utility? I thought this was a method at one point to transfer save files, not sure if this is still doable but might be something to look into also

i think that is just for lan parties, not transfering saved data. not 100% though...

 

and i meant no offense OP, just poking you.

if the second PS3 is set up using the exact same PSN account, just copy/paste your GTA saves and profiles from one machine to the other, via PS Plus if you have it or USB stick, they arnt protected.

 

then once the data installs off the disc again, it will be as if things never changed. trust me i run 2 ps3's as well and do this often, go between the 2. no need to run through the SP prologue again or restart online. provided you use the same save files.

 

if you dont have the SP save files, then yeah once the SP prologue is done and you can go online, your character will be sitting there in the cloud waiting.

I don't understand why you need 2 PS3s...

Because having to move it between rooms gets annoying, I'd rather just pay £90 for a pre-owned one.
