Dr. John
OK, it seems like I can't really edit the in-game objective texts without encountering another bug. Whenever I export the ingame texts into "dyomtemp" file, the texts always have spaces in between them. When I fix all the syntax and missprints, I import them back in the game. Now, at some objectives, the texts dissapear and at some, they don't. This causes an imbalance of the texts and they flow on wrong objectives. I really like this feature but it's really buggy. Can anyone help me? I guess I am going to use Notepad++ for now.
alifjenius
I never used the "import text objective" before. Maybe I'll test it after thisDutchy or Patrick said this feature is in their opinion the safest way to edit the texts outside the game, but I guess with this bug I stick to Notepad ++ for awhile EDIT : Yup, the bug is confirmed. It's also hapenned when I try to edit the texts. I think we can't fix that for a while, except there will be a newer version to fix the bug Edited January 12, 2014 by Alif Akbar
PatrickW
I've used it quite a lot and haven't had a single issue with it. Could you send me the saved missionfile before the export, the exported text file, the edited textfile and the saved missionfile after you imported the txtfile back into the mission ? Has anybody experienced these issues when using this functionality? (feedback of it working is also very usefull)
Dr. John
It seems Alif has experienced the bug too. Wait a second, I will have to sort out some issues. I will upload them soon. I will edit this post. Link. DYOM1 & dyomtemp1 contain the original mission. DYOM2 & dyomtemp2 contain the edited version of the mission. As you will see, there are a lot of errors in the first one but the second one has too many spaces. It seems like DYOM exports the file but with wrong spaces. PatrickW
Thanks for the files. Let me get this straight: You created the mision in DYOM1.dat, and exported the texts , and you got dyomtemp1.txt Then you edited it in a texteditor and that resulted in dyomtemp2.txt After that you imported it back into DYOM2.dat ? When I open dyomtemp1.txt, it correctly got the first 30 lines filled with the objective texts, no empty lines in between. When I open dyomtemp2.txt, There seem to have been inserted an extra empty line beneath each line of text from the mission. It looks to me that the unedited dyomtemp1.txt should be able to be correctly imported again, as it looks like a good file. dyomtemp2.txt will certainly give you problems when you try to import them. What program did you use to edit dyomtemp1.txt into dyomtemp2.txt ? This is what dyomtemp1.txt looks like to me: So to me it looks like it got exported correctly, but something went wrong while editing it.

I don't experience this bug, I just leave the spaces between the text when I use it, and then nothing goes wrong. This feature is working perfectly on my PC Edited January 12, 2014 by Yezz007
Dr. John
@Patrick: I used Notepad. I know the dyomtemp2 will cause bugs so I remove all those spaces and try again. It still persists even after removing them. On the top of that, it also causes some more bugs (Like dialouges dissapearing from particular objectives). @Yezz: I meant by mistakes I make while typing. It's easier to edit the texts whle outside the game. I thought this feature will be useful but it is just causing more problems.
KD himan
Here is my Tutorial. maybe you like it. THIS IS A AWESOME FEATURE. thanks to PatrickW and Dutchy. i know there is a little confusion, in dyomtemp. sometimes there are free lines in text file and people always delete that line, do not do that, they dont know, but those lines are for unwritable objectives ( objectives on which we cant write. ) for example, set ped behavior objective, we cant write on it. thats why some delete that line and every text from objectives goes 1 step backwords.. i hope you can understand me first, make your missions, remember your objectives, make them short like me. ( saving of time ) then EXPORT your objectives Text, after editing your text file, then IMPORT the file into the game.
