Let's look at the world they inhabit. They are hated, they are viewed with disgust, they have had to fight and claw just for right to practice their orientation without fear of legal reprisal. In some cases, their orientation can see the Homosexual expelled from his family. They are the subject of hate crime and numerous negative images in the media that portray them as effeminate dullards.

 

When you consider the hatred they are exposed to - I must ask, who in their right mind would chose to become a Homosexual?

Surely if he is the personification of all that is good, and yet has repeatedly shown a desire to destroy his creations en masse, at least once for no other reason than to win a wager, why should we be punished for doing as he does? Also, it's pretty conclusively proven that sexuality is largely determined by factors beyond the control of the individual. What kind of bigoted sadist would punish people for being a product of a world he apparently created?

There are certainly certain things, mainly human-centric things, which science will fail to adequately explain, but this in no way invalidates science, as I could point out countless examples of mathematical science being almost irrefutably correct in predicting and explaining many aspects of the universe in which we live.

Religions can be very dangerous at the point of organization, and people's belief can be molded into a grotesque form of morality that serves to make them do very questionable things in the name of their faith. That's why it matters to some.

 

Personally, I find it so fascinating because of how it flies in the face of critical thinking. Take Christianity in the United States. It's widely accepted as a given that it is true, yet when it comes to debate a theist is never able to provide a compelling argument for the existence of their god. It's worth questioning because intellectual honesty matters to me, and introducing an alternative to belief to people who believe in God is the decent thing to do. It's not about bashing people's beliefs, it's about providing them information. If your position is invalid or based on an assumption and/or logical fallacy, I'm gonna let you know. If you're being a hypocrite, I'm gonna tell you. Whether or not you accept that is up to you.

 

So you can pretend like you didn't see us post earlier that our problem with you was only that you were referring to your belief as fact, and not about the belief itself. You can also pretend like we're just a bunch of jerks who don't have any respect for people or their beliefs. But if you're so unwilling or completely incapable of defending your argument to the point where you just whine about how we're gang-debating and "bashing"...well frankly, tough sh*t. That's what happens when you spout some incredibly flawed arguments and then offer up immature, child-like responses, all while saying your beliefs are obvious facts.

I find it quite difficult to be the one that always brings explanations here for atheist groups and trying to prove something to people who won't believe in God in this life. The amount of PMs I've received, regarding this topic/discussion have left me cold because all of them are full of swearing. I'm really disappointed, but I guess that's just the way it is. Arguing with some 'Einstein IQ' guys won't help neither me or you. I'm out of this conversation whom I thought it could be be a peaceful one.

No, it doesn't. Saying things that have a basis in reality, or that can be tested empirically and demonstrated to be true, makes me right. The philosophy stuff is just nice filler designed to damage logical arguments regarding the idea of God as the personification of good and undermine the moral reasons for belief. I wouldn't have used them if you hadn't effectively claimed that I was less moral because I'm not a believer.

See, I've backed myself into a hole here. If I provide examples of how science has managed to accurately predict physical behavior (for example, how issues with the orbital period of Mercury were resolved by relativistic thinking), you'll just fruitlessly try to counter them by saying "but {insert unsolved problem here} isn't explained by physical theories!". I've taken notice in how the universe works and science is not part of it, i honestly don't understand why everyone here seems so butthurt when i say Science is a lie
