They vanish anytime you load into a job/race or get killed in free mode and respawn.

 

It's a pain in the a** going back to LSC 20 times per session just to keep a vehicle booby-trapped.

So don't leave or get killed.

And that adds up. Geez. I recommend the more expensive Tinsel Towers apartment if you are going to be doing that - you can run back to your apartment and look at LSC (if that's where you're going to leave it) out the window or zoom in via the telescope.
