Rather interesting apartment issue w/bounties

Got a $1K bounty from stealing an NPC car. I REALLY wasn't in the mood to run around the map for $1K and there was pretty much no one left in the current session, so I decided to go to another session where there would be more people and maybe battle a little bit before giving someone else the bounty. I get to the apartment in another session and go get a drink before I was going to have the character step out.

While I'm away from the controller, someone puts a $7K bounty on me. Kinda stunned - two bounties on me?.

I know the bounty timer doesn't start until you step out of the apartment if you arrive in the session with a bounty, but apparently the bounty doesn't literally register/activate when a bounty is carried over into a new lobby until you step out of the apartment as they were able to put the $7K one on me.

I had waited some on the $1K bounty so I didn't have that long to wait. Curious to test out whether I actually did have two bounties on me, I went to invite only, and waited the bit of time for the $1K bounty to expire (wheee....) thinking that maybe the $7K would start back-to-back after the $1K ended. Nope.

I went to another session (not invite only), stepped outside again, waited and waited and... and nothing about the $7K.

So...apparently that person's $7K bounty just went into the digital ether.

i noticed if you change characters the bounty just disappears. just had a bounty placed on me, switched to micheal to go answer the door, came back to online and the bounty was gone.

You've always been able to increase the incentive to kill someone by calling Lester. He will also tell you how much is on their head. Some people don't care, your a walking Bull's Eye. Play missions for an hour or invite only.

What I'm saying is that apparently, since I hadn't walked out of the apartment for the first time in that session yet, apparently the person could not see that I had a bounty/was able to put one on me despite having a $1K bounty carried over from the previous session. They spent $7K, but that $7K went nowhere as that bounty never activated.

Oh well, I dunno. Thought it was an odd thing (shrugs)

Also, thought mission play doesn't count towards the bounty timer. (?)

I survived a billion dollar bounty playing missions. Messing with the cops, playing golf. I haven't had any issues with the bounty system other than the frustrated messages I get from the hunters about sniping them from one position. They call it cheating.

You didn't give the game enough time to register the bounty. I noticed this when a hacker placed a 2 billion bounty on me in the middle of a street war I was having with four other players. My car was destroyed and there was no where to run to so I switched to singleplayer to preserve the bounty. Upon reentering online, I had no bounty. It's a shame. That bounty (had I survived) would have put me over 10 billion

just because you dont dashboard doesnt mean you didn't just quit before it saved. example: quick switching to SP!

G_Masta_Phunk

lately when i get a bounty I just go on a rampage and try to kill till I am killed.... I know that has nothing to do with this topic but I had to say it.... anyways.. 2 bounties... interesting... the original bounty must have canceled out the new one when you rejoined tho.
