U know bout passive mode right? Put it on steal car, then take it off. No bounty.

 

Tried that, as soon as I took off passive mode I get the bounty seconds later as if its waiting for PM to get turned off.

Alright I'll post this one more time to be nice, all you have to do is steal the car and get back out after a few seconds, wait at least 20 seconds (and make sure you're not standing right next to the car, be at least a few feet away) then get back into the car and drive away.

NPC bounties only activate if you're in the car at the time you would expect to see the text message that you'll be on a slab, if you're outside of the car when it would have happened you won't get the bounty and you'll be free to get back in the stolen car without reprocussions.

I had it happen once that I was standing next to the car and touching it while depositing money in my bank through my phone while I waited out the 20 seconds, and I somehow got the bounty put on me, but that was a fluke and I've never had it happen again, just don't stand right next to the car and you should be fine. You're welcome.

My strategy works every time, it may well be a glitch that it works and it might get patched eventually if so, but it definitely does work. (Bumped from the end of last page).

You just hav to wait 20secs in the car b4 taking it off, or you could just jump out as stated.

I always back out of the car after I get it. I still get bounties. And you can't always chill for 20 seconds in the middle of the heat.

Stealing cars in Passive Mode doesnt get you bounties.

Some of use want to roam around robbing stores or screw around with our guns without having half the map going after us over a 7K bounty every 10 minutes. Its cool here and there but it gets annoying after every carjacking results in a bounty.

It's not exactly a perfect solution but if you're not under threat from someone it works great, also if you go off the radar you can get away with it even under some heat. I sometimes drive for 5-7 seconds before getting out so that much at least you can use to drive around a corner while you wait out the rest of the time before getting back into the car and driving away.

 

And remember key to this is staying in the car no longer than 5-7 seconds (and 7 seconds is pushing it) then getting out and waiting an additional 15-20 seconds before getting back into the car and driving away. I've never gotten a bounty when I've done it this way, except for that one fluke and apart from the times when I've screwed up the timing (and it's been a while, I'm constantly selling cars at LSC and it's been weeks since my last bounty).

I mute voice and don't bother with the mike, half of all voices are garbled high pitch voices making random screams. As for killing me yea I let that happen if I'm not trying to get something accomplished.

I love chasing down bounties not for the cash (I do RR for that) but for the chase, and I also love getting them so I can try and see how long I last before someone gets it.

I'm not complaning about bounties in general, I'm just complaining about the frequency of them in regards to jacking AI cars. As for the chase I usually make it to a safehouse where I save, and if there a bunch of people waiting outside I just shut the game off and disappoint them lol

annnnd...why not? That and not stealing parked ones is the only way you're going to avoid them.

 

it doesn't make a SINGLE difference, the car can be parked, the driver can be shot, you WILL have a chance of having a bounty

Just go into passive mode before u steal their car. They can't place a bounty on u whilst in passive

listen to the judge and the others who have said this. Haven't had a npc bounty placed on me in a month because of going into passive mode

Don't understand why people have such an aversion to bounties. Yes it's a bit annoying, but it's a great way to make your friends money. If you need to get rid of a massive bounty, let your friend take the cash from some nubcake or npc.

A.I. bounties are far too common but I would be happy if you were able to murder the owner of the vehicle and therefore guarantee avoid getting a bounty.

 

This way you'd at least be able to weigh up the risks before deciding whether to jack a car, rather than it being a frustrating random lottery.

Annnnnnd you can go in to passive mode before you steal a vehicle to avoid an npc bounty too.

Not common enough imo. Number of times ive ended up running down a road jacking 15 or 20 cars trying to get a bounty on my head and still nothing after 20 cars.

 

Simetimes wish I could call lester and put a price on my own head.

Gonna sound like a n00b, but I was wondering about this!!! I was wondering why everytime I stole a decent car, I'd get a bounty put on me... So it's actually contracted by the game itself? f*ckers.

Got a 9k bounty trying to steal and sell an F620, survived it then when I tried to steal a sentinel to sell it right after that bounty was over, I got another 5k bounty.. I said fck it sold the car and got killed.

Yeah, almost seems like every third car I steal, I get a bounty placed on me. I don't hate the AI bounties but they do get annoying after awhile.
