I thought of a way to give a much needed buff to the Merryweather Mesa

As we all know, the mesa offroad's biggest weaknesses are its limited drivetrain (10 front/90 read i think) and its insistence on rolling over. I know rockstar isnt 100% concerned with vehicles, but if they gave it even 40 front/60 rear or something even closer to 50/50, and gave the option to remove the roll cage in los santos customs, that would be godly. Does anyone else smell what im stepping in?

Argh, sorry for the double post

 

I do rep the competition suspension, but it doesnt help the rollover. Once it rolls, its wont stop thanks to the roll cage.

 

And i do consider myself to be quite the good driver, i just think the merrweather mesa needs some extra tuning on behalf of rockstar. Thats all im saying

You can take your mesa any day and any day you will lose to the sandking... On any track. The mesa is one of the worst vehicles in the game and before you tell me to learn how to drive, come race me and you'll see that the mesa is at the back of the pack every time. Every time.

 

Only thing the merryweather mesa has is ground clearance. Sandking has that and a longer wheelbase, which makes for 10 times better handling and doesn't roll over on every bump like the mesa. Also when you go rock crawling, mud bogging, or attempt to go up a near-vertical rock face from flat ground, you will see that lowering the suspension makes a huge difference.

nice edit. i didnt say sh*t about it being the fastest on any track. i never said it was better or the end all be all, but i have a messa and no sandking. i have a rebel just for its visual styling. if your confidence is your sandking, good for you. but b4 u get all butt hurt cause i like my jeep, maybe you should interpret what im trying to say instead of swelling your e-penis in an attempt to make up for your lack of a real one. ive not met a mountain, hill, rock, or any other obstacles i couldn't overcome in my ride cause i know how to drive it, you know how to drive the sandking.

Coming from a "jeep" guy such as myself the rolling thing may be a tad overdone but Ican reassure you its a jeep thing. Being lifted as high as it is with all that weight so high up and the narrow wheelbase you take a corner going 80mph and it will tip lol for real.

I agree with the OP that the Mesa needs to be updated just like the Sandking was. It a BIG oversite! I'm a jeep owner myself and I was really excited when I saw this vehicle bc I though it was going to be the sh*t... But nope it's just sh*t. If anyone has a request ticket link I will gladly sign it!

Pretty sure this car is also jacked up because it uses the standard Mesa handling line, which throws off the center of gravity since it's a taller car.

I love my Mesa's and have climbed some crazy sh*t with them. The cageless ones seem to be a bit less top heavy, but its still very present.

 

I agree that its overdone, and it shouldnt be as tippy as it is. This should be addressed, as well as its power split. Giving it more power would be nice too.

I'm assuming you're talking about the classics. Regardless, can't have enough range rovers.

Flaws of that truck:
not lifted enough (can barely drive over large obstacles like the sandking would)

not wide enough
between 20/80 -10/90 (front/rear) drivetrain (terrible for climbing)
stiff as hell suspension
top heavy

this causes it to tip easily

 

i hate its performance but looks nice without the roll cage and open top.

However, that said, I keep one in my garage purely out of my love for it. I never use it with any other intention other than just goofing around. It cannot be taken as a serious performance vehicle, race vehicle, or mission vehicle as it will always cause more problems in a crisis than help.

Sandking is a monster and I love how it can knock a police car out of the way or simply drive right over a persnickety Entity and catch air!

However, the Sandking is a joke in races and heaven forbid you go off-road and take a tumble - it's a 10-minute sliding roll down a mountain side before you stop cursing and banging the controller off your forehead.

So, with all that, for tooling around, races, missions, and all other areas where you need to move quick and be able to access challenging terrain, you monkeys need to rethink your goals and get yourself a Sanchez.

totally agree on the mesa being a trophy vehicle. Got mine for the same reasons as you. All black with limo tint windows and red tire smoke

I've had a Mesa in my garage for a while now and the one that bothers me about it is how easy the front wheels are crumpled/twisted out of place when hitting immovable objects. Is the Sand King any better in this regard?
