D3ADSH0T
I got ACIV on my pc though so I can't compare it to my PS3 copy of GTA V. But here goes; I played on everything high with reflections on high so it was pretty damn realistic. You even see those sea tornadoes or whatever they call it. Dynamic water combat coated with a totally dynamic weather system(GTA V has it too) changes the way you battle. Forts are placed on water for combat as well as random enemy archetypes roaming the ancient seas for you to board or destroy. They focused a lot on the ocean, so yeah. But there's one thing that bothers me about ACIV. The ocean has to be loaded whereas GTA V is seamless! The water and weather effects are dumbed down on current gen.(Foliage only move pc) If its current gen vs current gen. GTA V wins! Osho
They did a great job on the water in V but it only matters if you spend all your time in it.Couldn't agree more.GTA V has done a very good job at it. Black Flag has to be the best simply because the story revolves around Pirates and the ship-based combats and even islands. All of these are perfect for naval exploration and that's the selling point of the game. It's too obvious but I wouldn't compare with V. The game does what it should in satisfyingly better way. r34ld34l
Apparently they had to limit the weather on current gen for xbox, but on next gen it is tons better. Even the grass moves in next gen lol That is nothing special. PC had that few years ago, that is a big lol kvic and Osho

Geeteeaifive
I never played AC IV (only played AC 1 and 2), but I keep hearing this. I've seen videos of AC IV but it has pirate ships and harpooning, but you obviously can't do that in GTA V without looking ridiculous. (1) Can anyone here who has played both GTA V + AC IV explain with some examples what you can do that was better in terms of interactivity? (2) Some also say the AC IV ocean technology graphically beats GTA V. Is this true? I thought the ocean in GTA V was beautiful and R* did an incredible job. Does it surprise anyone, it's a game about pirates, and ships, and ships swim on what? WATER, gta v is still better than all ac's combined. ajrunke
I've played both games. People clearly have varying opinions but I think the consensus is that AC:BF does the ocean better. In my opinion, AC:BF does the ocean far superior to GTA:V. Between the physics sloshing your boat around in a real manner, huge tidal waves, typhoons, gorgeous weather that has wind effects and the explorable areas, there really is no comparison. The explorable areas do have to load, but they are meticulously detailed unlike that of GTA:V. AC:BF has done the best job I've ever seen with the ocean. killahmatic
Having seen Assassins Creed IV on youtube, I have to say I dont really like their take on underwater as much, but its still nice. I do like how much see life there is, but V's underwater world just seems to look cooler.
nuer
V's water looks much better. V's water can be explored any time. AC's water looks lifeless from a distance. AC's water can only be explored in some areas, which look much better than V's.
just-a-spaz
Why are there no screenshots of Black Flag's water? I thought that Black Flag's water was too transparent and lacked depth. I like how GTA V's water has depth to it and the water reflections are real time. You can see the reflection of yourself, your boat, your airplane and you can even blow up a lamp post and watch the reflection match exactly.
