gta 5 converted to iv

Man, it really does highlight how old the GTA IV engine is, it's cool seeing some of the map in the game, but looking at the video, it's missing all the subtle things that was added in GTAV, the weather improvements, lighting improvements, wind dynamics, etc. This is more obvious when you port the timecyc from GTAV over to GTA IV PC, the values no longer work well, especially at night, as GTAV's takes into account illuminated sources and the long draw distance coronas, etc, to light up areas, so when you throw it on GTA IV, it just looks dark as that extra system isn't there.

I guess people will obviously run to ENB and bloom the sh*t out of it and turn cars into mirrors like usual, but that part aside, it's still not going to be able to recreate engine specific rendering techniques which Rockstar have added into RAGE over the years which, when playing GTAV, you can just see it here, the map on GTA IV's PC version just seems lifeless.

Explain to me why the hell people liked their cars as mirrors. I never got that. When I played a GTA IV Cars pack on GTA SA, they were way too reflective. Thank God cars aren't like that in real life.

That wasn't what I meant but, whatever.

Now that sunset screen shot is starting to look better. But man the engine differences are tremendous between iv and v. It makes me want to rage that all these idiots at IN and other sites said that v was only a slight upgrade over IV's graphics. Really? Are they f*cking blind? Or do they simply just not understand how advanced the engine is in their latest game? It honestly blows me away it's so much better than just about any other engine out there.

How are you going to achieve the map size? Los Santos & Blaine Country are almost twice the size as Liberty City and the map limit is apparently hard-coded into the game engine.

They know what they are doing. Have faith :)

I'm not gonna lie, these clean ENB screen shots look good. But I am still not a fan of them as I would rather have native engine implementations over injected any day.

That said in this situation and the available options, it's pretty damn good. I wonder if Rockstar are sh*tting their pants over this work right now. I f*cking hope they are.

Sorry to be negative,

but I surely hope that people don't expect this project to be fulfilled.

It looks good on paper. Getting the map to work is one thing, but getting traffic, pedestrians, and so forth to work properly is difficult. It was never pulled of with the San Andreas or Vice City mod.

It wont be pulled of this time either.

So don't get your hopes up.

Zzcool. I want you to understand something. When I say I don't like ENB I mean in that ENB can't change the shadow draw system to render shadows out to a kilometer away like the engine upgrades do in 5. This is part of why all the shots showing distance so far look rather bad. Again I like the clean color and tone of these shots and it's exciting, but there's only so much ENB can do before the raw rendering effects get bottleneck by the code. I hope you understand me.

Soon.

Are you one of the guys that created the IV:SA mod?

,

...Yes he is, you know, you should check out that Modding section in that side tab over there (<<<<<<<<<<) You'll find all of us there. :p

Is that mod dead?

It's been on beta 3 for months now

IVSA has traffic and ped paths. They were released in the addons section of the launcher.

I'm still curious about the map limits. Someone asked about it earlier but was answered with "Have faith" - what the f*ck?

So really, did you somehow edit the .exe or something? How would you go about editing the map limits, and how did you? I know IV: SA had this problem too since LS, SF, and LV are larger than IV - so how did that team get around the map limit?

Memhacking does wonders.

This was answered earlier in the thread.

After this is done you can then acquire that GTA IV Character Switch mod and the GTA V HUD mod, slap some GTA V character models in there too for good measure and you'll have a "close as you can possibly get" GTA V version for the PC. That is until it actually comes out of course.

Well apparently it doesn't, because after looking through the thread Ash explains that the video was edited to make it look like the full map was available.

They are devastated.

You have to be kidding me. It's common knowledge that the whole map can't fit into IV. It's a matter of memhacking, and that as whole can be tedious and quite difficult. Watch your attitude if you don't know what you're talking about.

i am shocked the entire map does fit in gta 4 how?

Either scaled or crazy offsets from the origin point were used, the latter will cause lovely performance issues due to off-screen drawing.

yeah it is scaled it is much smaller than the one in gta 5 but it still is impressive
