You should do the map so if you shoot an RPG somewhere the building has a hole... lol that would be sick.

Or a bunch of passages under the city........ that would be so f*ckin amazing... (I'm kinda obsessive when it comes to caves in a video game)

Thats impossible and would take years, and the models are solids so...........................

Does RAGE even support that?

Sounds like you'd need CryEngine or Frostbite to do that

 

It does, there are a few spots and missions in IV and V that are destructible. But small. Buildings would take a hell of a lot of work

 

Well if WFT export comes to 3ds max you could probably use a tool called Rayfire which is for movies that subdivides the model and makes it destructible.

You can tell the program how many chunks you want and stuff like that.

It can even bake the animation to a regular animation for games :D

Or Geo-Mod 2, but who knows who owns Red Faction or if Volition still owns the engine now?

I forgot about that!

 

And also I remember in IV the mission where you save Roman from the kidnapping, the pillars would break off from explosions and bullets. But fully destructible buildings? Sounds like that'd take a lot of work.

That's pretty amazing. If the WFT exporter is ever made available for 3DS Max, do you really think modders would take the time to make some more destructible environments for IV or V with Rayfire?

 

The fact that it can bake the animations is even better. That would definitely save a lot of performance.

Forget to mention Max Payne 3 has tons of destructible environments compared to GTA IV and V, and that runs on the RAGE. Then there's scripted destruction seen in cutscenes in IV, V, and MP3 - which are definitely possible.

If it wasn't for the cars in the background I'd have a hard time telling which was which. But I can see the lighting in V is different. More realistic

the shadow on the car and pinkish tone to the ground i think thats it

Yeah the pic on the left definitely has a warm tone to it, while the one on the right is cooler.

 

It makes sense since GTA IV is based off cold, grey NYC in fall, and GTA V is based off warm L.A. in summer. Or whatever season it is in the game

I think it supports it. In IV you can destroy the pillars in the big house from the final mission.

 

The thing with the destroyable environments in GTA IV is that it's not dynamic, everything you break in GTA IV has pre-determined breaking points, those pillars will always break at the same areas, just like benches, which also break quite nicely. RAGE is shown to allow for fully dynamic deformation, but it doesn't look like it supports dynamic environment and object destruction, this is most likely due to it being developed for console, as they wouldn't be able to handle that kind of stuff. The only way you could make something feel dynamic is by having a huge amount of breaking points for objects, but this still wouldn't be 100% dynamic.

 

GTA V continues with this trend, breakable objects are still pre-determined, and not dynamic, however, glass now breaks dynamically (games from a decade ago could do this, they sure took their time...), rather than just shattering, it does act a bit goofy though, walking into it makes it go flying. There's no way to make dynamic objects without completely over hauling the engine to allow for it, which of course is something modders can't do, as only Rockstar have access to the RAGE engine code. RayFire would be amazing, but the resource it would use would be way too heavy to handle, even for high-end computers.

Wait a second... hacking limitz? Hey, if it would be possible to hack the limits, make it possible to have more than 20 weapons to be added, I could only add 20. Would be cool to have all the IV and V weapons in one :p

Nothing wrong with this, GTAV is basically a graphics mod. It was said in a preview that it's running on a lot of hacks/optimization.

 

You do know that it'd be harder for Rockstar to MAKE a graphical hack to their OWN game, right? The game uses DirectX (Hence the name, Xbox) or PSGL (Playstation's version of OpenGL). They aren't using any graphical modifications or optimization tools. It's all native to the selected console.

 

Saying that Rockstar modded their own game makes literally no sense. At all. The game hooks into the console's native rendering engine, process the data, and is then decoded by the video drivers. GTA V is running an updated version of the RAGE engine, so it's definitely going to have a lot of graphical tweaks.

 

Rendering in a game works like this:

Data is called for -> Data is processed by GPU -> Graphical effect is stored in the VRAM -> The data is rendered depending on the video driver/service -> The effect is displayed on the screen

If the effect is no longer needed, it's dumped out of the RAM entirely.

The thing is those graphics mods are bandaids to what the real problem is. A dated, ugly and incapable graphics engine. To really feel the impact of the improvements made to RAGE from IV to V you really should be playing without mods on PC.

 

Better yet imagine GTA V native pc and then applying mods and tweaks.... droooool.

Seems to me sibs is just grasping at straws trying to defend the OP for his use of graphics mods when comparing Los Santos in IV to a screenshot in V.

 

But there is literally no issue here. OP is just using the graphics mod to get IV to look like V. He's not making some competitive comparison and trying to say one game is better than the other. It's for the sake of the mod and its authenticity.

yeah i wanted to give him this i couldn't afford to do it but i needed something to save my channel from death i was desperate and i admit that 2013 to me was the worst year of my life

 

gta 5 released killing off gta 4 and my channel which i worked for several years on i was willing to give up alot to that guy to keep this mod from spreading

 

so yes i admit i offered him money to let this go but he didn't accept so thats why i had to rush this out

my channel was the very first thing in my life that gave me a reason to life i was willing to sacrifice alot in my life to save it

i don't care if the leaker posted this as i fully admit that i did try to offer him money to keep this from leaking and ruining the only moment i had to show my subscribers and my viewers that my videos matter

 

i wanted to be the first person to show this to show that my videos matter that they are not unoriginal junk it all failed because of him
