in the mission did somebody say yoga, Michael's family leaves him due to his erratic behavior, my heart broke for him. My heart also goes out to trevor and franklin for what they had to go through as well.

Having delved through all of the aforementioned deep, profound and consequential moments, and enlightened by the gripping core of a Grand Theft Auto: V, it is easy to see just why this landmark installment effortlessly acquired over 300 perfect scores. The deliverance of Grand Theft Auto: V and all of its occurrences, predicaments, crises and ultimatums thereof emulate the real world. When we are commandeering Michael, Franklin and Trevor, there is an emotional complex that is so ingenuously woven, and channeled between the player and the protagonists. :)

Yes, indeed; there were certainly multiple moments in Grand Theft Auto: V, which sometimes even elicited tears, chiefly the tentative split of Michael's family. The carefully, constructed and calculated craftsmanship of Grand Theft Auto: V rightfully embodies Rockstar Games and Mr. Houser as the pioneers of awesomeness. :) Not to derail the focal point, but that feat has been greatly exemplified with the soon-to-be showcasing of Grand Theft Auto: V for the pleasure of the Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC. I will be venturing over to that thread to express my exuberance soon. Thank you, and I now yield back the balance of my time. :)

Huh, and people say this game is lighthearted.

In IV I wouldn't really feel anything at all for the pedestrians, I just couldn't give a flying f*ck about cops.

Literally if I killed a cop in IV nobody would give the slightlest of a f*ck. It's like they never existed to their partners. They were just there for the sake of having something to kill.

In V I literally felt bad for killing cops at certain points, they were truely just doing their job. They talked to each other and communicated, asked eachother if they were ready, certain cops would reply with ''I WAS BORN READY''.

If somebody was downed they would look at their body and Yell to call and ambulance or to shout out the name of the cop I killed. Injured ones would be dragged behind cover. Used hand to hand signals.

Bottom of the line is. V's pedestrians are more alive than the ones in IV. In V I felt like a I killed somebody, in IV I felt like I just shot at a nameless sack of potatoes.

This. I don't know why IDIOTS call them LIFELESS. Maybe it's because they're not as "euphoria-sensitive" as the ones in IV.

Officer Ronson

One time I heard a security say the next line after killing a guy: ''I can't believe I just killed somebody...'' Also a cop said the next: ''I hate it when it ends up like this!''. Lines like that, even if they're just pixels and meses still make it seem like they care about others. The reason why I didn't like IV's pedestrians so much is because hell, I never felt bad for them, even if the whole story of the game was somewhat dark and depressing the pedestrians said wacky things, even during missions.

It's sad that Trevor couldn't get with that woman who was married to Martin Mendrozo(spelling?) because she's too stupid.

And the thing is, he wasn't really trying to get with her, but protect her. Yet she kept calling him to remind him that she can't be with him, especially that last call... Thankfully, Trevor's heart is made out of bricks.

The death of Floyd. Seriously, R* really took a hard one there. Storming into Floyd's apartment, robbing his workplace, getting feces everywhere, getting him beat up, and then killing him. Just terrible.

And seeing how Jimmy treated Mcheal during "Did somebody say yoga"...drugging him, stealing his car, and taking money from his bank account....that was f*cked up. Rockstar just had no mercy here. I know they wanted to show a "american disfunctional family" but this was something else. My father and I have had some rough times but I can never imagine myself doing that, ever.

This thread is just so beautiful. Everyone here who has posted stuff they find depressing has shown that we are not just naive young boys who like to run around and kill people...but have actual heart. We can observe, and appreciate the finer details in life.

And it just reminds you how much effort R* put into the creation of this world. I browse these forums regularly and I still discover stuff I never knew about...it's incredible.

This game, while not as in-your-face dark as IV...is dark in the undertones. California is a sun-and-fun metropolis,..but deep down inside it's dark as the inside of a coffin on a moonless night.

Don't know if it's mentioned before but i remember hearing tracy being sick in the toilet and saying "no one wants a fat daughter"

it's not a huge in your face thing but a small rare little detail.

Already posted in the OP.

Going through my second playthrough of the game now, and I'm kind of surprised at how depressing some of the little details are. The game's satire is usually so over-the-top that it's just too ridiculous to take seriously, but I've seen two little things that kind of got me off guard and made me a little sad on this playthrough.

First, I switched to Michael, did a cop chase, and decided to head back home for the health pack in the bathroom since I was pretty close to it anyway. So, I went upstairs and I heard Tracey vomiting, she said something like "it's nothing dad, I just had a huge diner." I thought it was just because she had drank too much from a party or something, which I would totally expect, so I chuckled. As I walked out of the door, though, she said something along the lines of "nobody wants a fat daughter." Like, f*ck, Rockstar, that's f*cked up.

The second thing I encountered was a few minutes ago: I went to Vespuchi Beach to get the masks for the underwater heist and saw a hooker there after I finished so I picked her up. During the service, she said something like "I'm just doing this to pay off my student loans," which I thought was pretty funny (she was jumping on Michael's balls so it was hard to take seriously). After she left though, she got on the phone and said in a pretty self-loathing tone "Hey, about those student loans..." (I accidentally scared her off after that though so didn't catch the rest lol) That's pretty f*cked up too, especially when you know people who are neck-high in student debt.

Seriously, it's pretty f*cked up - they bring in real, sad issues just out of nowhere in the middle of all the ridiculous sh*t.

Anyone else have a moment like this while playing the game?

His girl pulled a gun on Trevor though, so they had their deaths coming. One thing you don't do is pull a gun on an ex-military man unless you're going to use it.

This thread is amazing, honestly

It is. It shows the true darkness of the game....and how that darkness is manifested through tiny tiny tiny details that you will never see in any open world game...ever.

I had no idea of any of these kind of deeper things within V (except for M's death, By The Book etc.) prior to reading this thread, but now I am more intrigued in the story and dialogue than ever. Seriously, great job on reading between the lines guys.

The storyline itself never had any particularly "feely" moments for me, except for maybe "Bury The Hatchet."

That said, I would agree with previous posters in that pedestrians in V feel more like actual people. The dialogue between cops is very real during shootouts. I don't go out of my way to kill any.

Sad and quite depressing is whole Trevor's life to me.

He had pretty f*cked up childhood. His paretns were not much nice to him, mother was a slut and maybe his dad was beating him.

What about other his dads how Trevor said he had about eight fathers through his life.

He's bit of dangerous, having a lot of anger issues but he has a soft side inside him, desperate for a love, for someone.

He was betrayed by his best friend and people thinks that he's ugly hillbilly maniac.

yay *cries*

Anyway I found many moments sad in the game, like other fans there saying.

Just playing GTA V to come back to the ruins of Stab City, I saw a particular Lost biker (Blonde long hair, vest, blue flannel shirt) walking while talking on the phone after leaving his seat, catching up slowly I missed a bit of the conversation to hear...

"No, momma it's harder than you think"

"Call me back when you can say something nice!"

*Sniff*

I felt bad for that guy, I guess he was pretty loyal to stay at stab city and to stay at a place with no meaning anymore, maybe he told his mom about the events and she got mad at him or something, I don't know.

Now that I think about it, Floyd's death was completely unecessary and I feel R* just did it to be pretentious like "oh look at us we're so badass we're going to brutally kill the most innocent character in the game"

But it came off as completely tasteless.

I think "Hang Ten" would have been x100000 better if only Debra was killed...and Floyd and Wade go the strip club.

I think if you look deep enough Michael is the saddest. Character trying to find the balance between happiness and crime. He's never truley happy. His family hates him. He screwed over everyone hes ever known in a attempt to be happy. Yet it doesn't work

It wasn't unexpected, however I wept for hours when I had to kill all those gangsters and police. Whenever I pulled the trigger I felt bad and my hearts went out for their families. RIP in peace

Surprising, the Cop/Guard AI in GTA V seems to be pretty believable outside of the spawning and accuracy issues...

Would of been x100000000000000000000000 times betters if Debra was only an off-screen character, and Trevor and Wade just decided to move instead. But no, it didn't even seem like something Trevor would do (He didin't try to kill Haines until the end despite wanting to, yet Floyd has to die? WTF?).

Meh, the fact I hated Jimmy so much made me kinda like that. Him reading Amanda's letter was sad though.

When Franklin gets stoned and says: 'I should be a surgeon or something.. maybe Tanisha wouldn't hate me so much.' It's kinda sad.

Guy has millions, a big house, and can't think of anything else than her.

The storyline missions didn't have much sad feelings to them. Apart from the prologue where Trevor thought he just saw his two only friends die, but had to run.

If you go on that pshic site with franklin. She says Lamar slept with Denise. And that franklin was a ass to everyone to be successful but now he's all alone in a big house with no one to share it with

Everything that happened to the Chinese Triads all because of a mentally unstable guy. They lost their business in Blaine County and wasted their time in the Midwest to find something only to have 200+ Chinese people die.

At the airport in single player, as franklin i lifted up the trash truck with the bulldozer, chop was there... the trash truck tipped to one side and chop got crushed, depressing.

To be fair, if you think that two men are in a homosexual relationship because they share a trailer, I think that deserves some type of punishment...
