Were you ever a kid? You can't legislate decency or morals. That's the kind of niave thinking that gets us in trouble in the first place.

 

You need to ask yourself what changed you from the days kissing Sally went from yuck to I need to get me some of that and why once you opened that can of worms that it never went away.

 

You'll find that GTA had nothing to do with it. It was called human nature. And it doesn't magically happen at 18 because the law says so.

In all fairness I've played with more annoying people my age or older (I'm 22) than younger for sure

I've heard older peeps act more immature than some kids I run into. Makes you wonder what the hell is wrong with the world.

 

I know people can be extremely f*cking petty too like a while ago i met this kid saying sh*t like "you do as i say you only speak when spoken to!" he eventually just stfu after i proved how much of a bitch he was and got everyone else with a mic against him (they were waiting for allies apparently) and just LAST NIGHT i met two guys who called me a pussy for using passive mode then yelling at them for running me over....well maybe i dont want to pay billions of $ in hospital fees all the time huh? then they kept telling me to stfu when i tried to tell them this i eventually just beat the sh*t out of them and they still kept badmouthing me it got really annoying so i just went quiet for awhile. "is that fa**ot gone?...i hope to god he is" and they branded me mr.passive aggressive for the whole f*cking session this sounded like a country boy btw a full f*cking grown man being this immature -_- he is clearly an example of somone who shouldn't play GTAO.

I was playing yesterday morning. You hear two kids in game chat sounding no more than ten. (Im trying to figure out who they are so I can troll them) THESE ARE THE ONLY PLAYERS WORTH TROLLING!

 

Finally one of their mothers comes in their room "what is that, what are you playing". She asked 3 times, they kept saying just some game. Finally she mentioned something about hurry up downstairs for breakfast.

 

I was nostalgic, upset, and embarrassed for him. They left the session one min latter, squashing my trolling activities for the week. Smh

the problem isn't the mics... or the people having lives..it's the lack of "PUSH TO TALK" options in games... OPEN MICS are terrible, always have been terrible, and always WILL be terrible.. Push To Talk.. a lost art.

If you're under 21 you should not be playing this game.. and your parents should be ashamed for buying such a game for you if you're under 15... period. But parents these days are mostly worthless anyway, from what I can tell... it is now Trevor's world...

 

There's something called a 17+ Age rating for Mature games. If you say that you shouldn't play this unless you're 21, this is sadly just your opinion.

I have not read the 7 pages of responses so I am sure that this has been said so assume I am quoting and agreeing with dozens of others.

Maturity is a subjective matter. You cannot validate the maturity of each person who chooses to buy a game. Age is an objective stat and it is generally accepted that children of a certain age do not have the maturity needed to be subjected to some content. While I believe there are exceptions to the maturity level for the most part those kids dont have an issue because they blend in and dont bring attention to themselves. If you are being called out, discovered or otherwise becoming known for your age it is a sign that you dont come off as mature as you think you do.

My personal opinion is that the level of exposure of our adolecants these days is a failure in parenting of which I myself can even be called guilty of. My daughter at 13 who spends most of her time with her mom has been exposed to shows like Bones and Walking Dead and some horror movies I would have never exposed her to...but I am guilty of not interfering.

Maybe her mom felt like she was mature enough to handle it. Some kids just aren't fazed by that kinda stuff. I grew up watching horror movies like the Fridays and Halloweens and playing games like gta VC. I'd like to think I turned out alright. Never had any homicidal tendencies...yet.

Yea I've seen that happen quite a bit on gta. Some guy yelling the N-word and all other types of profanities and threats has a kid in the background asking for food or w/e. Then you hear him tell them to give him 5 minutes and he'll make them a sandwich.

It's not as simple as being able to tell a game from reality. A four year old could tell you that GTA is not the real world. It's about having the real world experience that comes with age to be able to tell just how much of the game is based on reality. Behavior that is acceptable in GTA but not in the real world has to be introduced to a child in a negative way before it is portrayed as something positive or cool. I'm not a parent, but I would make my children watch documentaries and have a good understanding of the real world counterparts of GTA behaviors before I would let them play a game like this. Documentaries about the devastation of the war on drugs for instance. I would make sure they understand what the US does in its wars and that it's a very bad thing before I let them play Call of Duty.

 

Young minds get messed up when violent media are their main source of information about things portrayed in them. The problem is not really people letting their children play violent video games, it's people letting their children be raised by them.

There are a lot of valid points here. Underage players that can behave themselves ABSOLUTELY welcome. Mental development can be much more accelerated for some people.

 

There are two things I want to highlight:

— People will always lie about their age if they want something really hard. And it's not a bad thing. Like it was at WWII, when they wanted to volunteer. Imagine, how hard it could be for everyone and which consequences it has caused. This is still a game. A lot of our parents/ grandparents may tell you such stories. My grandpa lied about his age when he volunteered to join the army in Russia (Yes, I'm russian, and was born in Soviet Union, but for me my country is always called Russia, that communist playground called Soviet Union is a huge mistake, which helped to establish worst regimes in some places like North Korea, Eastern Germany, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Romania etc)

— We should not be very harsh with young people in general. I was reading some literature for mature audience much earlier than society decided I should to and still mentally stable. Sure thing, a lot of people can share the same experience.

i had two little kids, from the sound of their voices the were less than 10 years old. both of them claiming to be master hackers and were going to brick everyone's systems. its hard to take these kids serious when they dont even know how to start an invite only session so they can glitch cars.

 

rockstar wont let anyone under 18 use snapmatic. they should use the same feature to block their headsets. i know not all kids are that stupid and some adults are worse. but it just makes me sad to hear grown men and little kids screaming suck my dick at each other.

You're not supposed to be exposed to the setting, language & online atmosphere this game offers, that's what.

Then I blame your parents for sh*tty upbringing.

This is akin to allowing children at bars or casinos; you may have seen people in your family drink & gamble before, but does that mean you should be allowed there? No. It's not meant for you & it's simply not healthy for a young mind to be there at all. No matter how much that young mind says otherwise.

 

Likewise, a lot of adults may converse & elate in foul language & blue humor...but that's precisely where these things can happen without backlash; areas meant for adults. Allowing underage people in there can make the adults feel uncomfortable as they cannot express themselves in the same way. I for one know I can't if I know there's an 8-15 year old playing..it's uncomfortable & we shouldn't have to pay the piper for it.

 

 

 

Maturity does not mean being able to assimilate large amounts of violence & sexual content without wincing. That's called insensibility, not maturity. The game does indeed influence you very subtly, just as Mortal Kombat, Chiller & other violent titles did for my generation. We didn't turn into spinal cord-ripping ninjas neither, but that didn't mean the game did not influence us in other ways that children should not be exposed to.

You say you're not going to go on a murderous rampage just because you saw it on a game? Congratulations; you're mentally sane...but you're still not as mature as you think. I bet dollars to donuts the day you turn into a responsible, self-sustained adult you'll look back & laugh at how "mature" you thought you were.

You're 13; the age when you think you're not a little kid anymore & can handle the adult world by storm....
