Thats practically the equivalent of saying ''Is dur any mudders in hure?''.Its just as annoying.

Hello guys, I don't really see what's all the child discrimination is about, but I've been heavily insulted for being underaged, and I really think games should not be rated on age, it should be rated on maturity. I am almost 13, but I'm mentally mature enough to play and understand this game. The kids you hear screaming "ni**er" and other popular insults that sound like they are 7 are obviously not mature and should not be playing this game. Hope this topic doesn't get deleted but what do you guys think about kids on this game?

You can't rate maturity, but I do agree that there are a few kids that are pretty good. It's a "one person ruins it for all" kind of thing.

Any real parent wont let it get further then a video game. So even if you were/are one, its not like anything would come out of it BUT I can play Minecraft and meet kids as well. So it really doesn't matter from that stand point.

 

Quick question is it okay for adults to play game aimed at children? Minecraft is rated E, right? So pretty much a game kids can play. Is it okay for adults to play with them and talk to them? Should adults mute the kids because they are playing with kids?

Part of the issue is that the environment created by games like GTAO tends to give people much more free reign to do as they wish without much consequence, and thus exacerbates the negative qualities of many players which otherwise would act in a more restrained fashion if they were not in an anonymous context (tl;dr people often tend act like bigger d**ks than usual in GTAO). It happens that a lot of these people tend to be too young to legally purchase the game themselves, and immaturity thus becomes as big a problem as deliberate a**hattery by older players.

 

The mental vs. physical maturity thing was also something I have often had trouble with before. When I was younger, people assumed I was older because of how I communicated, based on my diction and how I spoke, and were surprised to learn my actual age. Contrastingly, when I began playing on Xbox Live partway through high school, this sort of thing was much less important, and I was often assumed to be several years younger than I actually was because of how my voice made me sound younger when conveyed over electronic media. Just a week ago, someone thought I was 17, and was shocked when I told them I was 24, having graduated college and held a job for over a year, so it still happens.

Alot of us played GTA games when we were kids and teens. Did you hear any stories how kids did all this crazy sh*t? Most of you want their cake and want to eat it too. I'm sure most of us had made that cliche remark "video games dont create violence". All the sudden is does but you need to be 18 and under?

 

You guys want to argue something for your own personal agendas but don't think logically it seems. Like I said its up to the parents to decide if their kids can handle M rated games. I'm sure most of you want to ban the new Batman game from kids as well.

 

Oh wait that's right its an M rated game that doesn't have multiplayer, so why would you care? I wonder how many kids are going to fight crime because of that game. Most of you are just too damn funny.

No clue what rockstar would do since, like I said time and time again, nothing wrong with kids playing M rated games. If anything governments would have to get involved and we don't want that. They would have to make a law stating that anyone under 17 can't play. And what would happen? The parents go to jail? More problems will come up if ratings would be taken more seriously.

I've met plenty of kids that are nice and act mature and sadly you never hear the stories about them, just the bad stories. How all they do is scream and curse.

 

I understand most people don't want kids to play an M rated game, I respect that but if its not your kid, you don't have any say. All I read on this forum is how kids are bad etc. Do most adults forget how they acted when they were kids? Hell most adults that play this game are worse then kids.

 

Kid comes on MIC, "adult" says "shut up kid". Seriously? Why? Why is it that teens and even adults feel the need to act like morons? The other day some kid had his MIC on, he was a bit annoying, I muted him. Two minutes later I heard a teen or young adult say "shut up asshole" "fix your pos MIC" "f*ck off kid" for 10 minutes.

 

I was doing something so i couldn't mute him right away. People like that seek out people for their own environment, and its sick. This kid was doing nothing but enjoying the game. Yet he can't because people feel that he should? Why? Because its an M rated game, so we need to seek these people out to force them to quit?

 

The simple and adult like thing would be to mute the issue not provoke it.

Totally agree and this is what I find also, online players are looking for angle, somthing to make them feel superior, make them look/sound cool, young players are simply an easy target for most, some kids asks a perfectly valid question and some chump will jump on mic and say something really clever like "come back back when ya balls have dropped kid"... no need for it and it makes the older guy look a friggin idiot if you ask me..

 

Yes some kids are annoying, screaming singing and acting like some gangster, but unfortunately this behaviour doesnt stop with the young players, there are just as many older players with the same mentality.... at least the young have a excuse..

 

Yes .. some kids are enough to make you want ram pencils into your ear drums, but not all are like it.. and I think its unfair to paint all our younger players with the same brush..

I think everyone is on the same page that it's a parenting issue and not the government's responsibility.

 

However, if you don't think there's a problem with an 8 year old kid screaming "I'm gonna f*cking kill you ni**er!" two hundred times into a mic until he's screaming and crying then that's a you problem. But now that we agree that Lord of the Flies nor fascism are desirable scenarios, the rational thing to do is wiggle the needle in that range until an amicable situation is found. All the arguments on both sides need to be laid out for that to happen.

 

My issue is not so much the content of the game. I take issue with a real young child hanging out at the strip club or hearing some of the sexual dialogue from prostitutes, that's about it. We don't let children into bars and strip clubs no matter how mature or well-behaved. So why would we let them virtually? But even on this issue, on an anecdotal level, I'm sure there are many mature kids who are unaffected by or can handle these things.

 

My second much more significant issue is with the kids being among a primarily adult online community. I'm not sure they can handle it. Which is why people troll them and f*ck with them. A kid is easy to outsmart and emotionally manipulate. That's why they are protected from adults. This is already one of the harshest online communities where, as people have said, even most of the adults are cruel, childish douchebags. But I think it's a non sequitur to say that's an argument for children's participation. It's one of the main reasons I'm against it.

 

I know this is the boring-ass parenting thread on GTAF and it is entirely unsexy to discuss this kind of subject but at the same time I don't think it needs to invoke big reactions. I think most people agree on most things but have a difficult time expressing that and take the differences in opinion too personally. Yeah someone disagreeing with you is basically calling you stupid, but you think they're stupid, so shake hands and walk it off.

Thats one thing that sickens me,kids going to strip clubs and getting prostitutes,that type of content is quite the limit and can sometimes make them have a different mindset on sexual intercourse/adult entertainment.

 

Then the start being immature on that type of stuff and become more immature.As much as a kid would like to play GTA,the parent needs to have the Lite ''Talk'' and tell them what's right from wrong,which most people don't know...because that game and their mic is free babysitting.

 

I used to work at gamestop a few months back and this 8-10 year old wanted to take GTA V,the mother,reluctantly,allowed his child and I was the cashier,I told the mother about the content in the game and gave her some information regarding the game,saying its not suitable for children his age and that he is better of playing Minecraft,LBP,Uncharted,stuff like that.The kid was a bit pissed but I felt like I did the right thing.She know even has a better idea on the ESRB ratings.

 

The parents should also realize that Grand Theft Auto is in the title,that is practically ''Car Theft'' and the fact that it doesn't put their toned down spidey senses in a doosey is beyond me.

I brought this up simply because earlier I was in a public session hearing 3 kids talking about the Ill Gotten Gains updates. All three of them couldn't even f*cking say it properly. "Ill Golden Guns" or something very similar to that was what they were saying. They were like 7 years old. After evesdropping their conversation I muted them and went on with my GTA life.
