OT:To everyone that believes kid shouldn't play multiplayer games need to shut their traps.We are in the Internet and Digital Age,everyone including their grandma has some form of technology and uses it someone for social interaction.

I agree. The only issues people have with kids playing games like this, is they can hear them, that's all. They don't really care if kids play this game, they use excuses to get them off the game. Some of you just need to learn to mute the issues and move on.

I'm not putting no words in your mouth. If something is because of this generation of kids, that means it happened over night, no? You can't blame this generation of kids for something that started decades ago.

If teachers dont respect the kids, how do kids earn respect? Just because someone is an adult doesn't mean they act like one. I've seen more entitled adults lately. Everyone talks about respect, yet no one gives it.

Case in point, I'm "moronic" for thinking differently then you. Respect goes both ways and yet I haven't said anything bad about your thought process. What else could that teacher have done? I don't know? Teach maybe? She got fired for not doing her job, a job people entrusted her with.

Outside world only has affect on the weak minded. Lots of people become drug addicts, so? I've never done drugs nor have I drank, pointless to me. Why? Because I'm not weak minded, I don't follow.

You talked alot about respect and I can respect your opinion. You weren't in my shoes when that teacher didn't care if we learned or not. Some reason people hold teachers on this high standard bullsh*t. At the end of the day, its a job to them.

Most of them are there for the pay. Sure some want to help kids and really care. Teachers go on strike more and more. Kids go months without school, why? They want more money. So these kids need to suffer because you don't think you get paid enough? That's bull.

Anyways you're entitled to your opinion as am I. I respect your opinion but I don't think you respect mine. Kinda ironic if you ask me.

I hate how a parent would come up see their child cursing to an adult and move on.If I were the parent I would have given a slap in the face for using saying that language you hear these kids say.I wholeheartedly agree that these kids shouldn't use a mic for bad purposes but instead the adults need to mute them and let,may I hate to say this,not talk,they these children will tone it down to a degree,because if you say ''Please be quiet'',they have a f*cking tantrum and then try and throw burns in your way.Nonetheless,making is kids cry is just f*cked up,which I have seen some people say.

I have ran into some adults who can't handle being killed too. So every age group has those people who can't handle playing GTA. Albeit it's mainly people in their teens and younger who throw a tantrum but their are adults who will throw one too sadly.

I already mute everyone so the issue is definitely deeper than the old idea children should be seen but not heard.

 

If anything I'm worried because we are in some fairly neo-puritanical times and it's just going to take one socially awkward "gamer" to kill himself or a bunch of people before the 5 million women who watch The View are going to ask, "What about that Grand Theft Auto picture-game the kids play?" That's a hypothetical obviously but video games have been a target for these people going on 30, almost 40, years now. And these same people still hate video games and eye gamers with suspicion and lack of regard.

 

Games are only going to get more realistic, more visceral and more adult-oriented, so the concerns most people have will only increase in time. It's important to be part of the conversation as people who use and enjoy adult games because if we aren't, who knows what outsiders will decide. There's an NC-17 rating in the States for movies but hardly a single one gets made because it's not considered market friendly. We could find ourselves in a situation where developers would rather hit a broader market, or avoid controversy, so they pull the teeth in their games. Or we could find ourselves in a position where busybody lawmakers say all games must be made kid-friendly because kids play them. Or adult-oriented games can only be sold in venues where children aren't allowed, relegating them to essentially pornography. Cutting kids out of the equation now is a fail-safe to prevent this type of thing happening.

 

I think there are more angles to this. Primarily though, I'm in my early thirties, so all my friends have infants and toddlers and it won't be long before I have a son who's going to want to play GTA at 7. It's a practical issue for me.

It has nothing to do with generations, it has everything to do with the fact that most kids are naturally annoying. Always have been, and always will been. Cut the generation crap. Now I can understand not wanting to hear squeakers but yeah there is a mute button. Use it and there you go. Saying kids should not play this game because they sound annoying over the mics is ridiculous. What about other games, rated E or T games with multiplayer? I've played Forza Motorsport 4 online and have heard numerous amounts of annoying players saying random crap over the mic.

 

We all like to lie to ourselves and say that GTA is a game for adults but lets face the facts. More than half of players are below the age of 20. And a lot of us, on this forum, who aren't underaged were underaged when we played our first GTA. For me, all I thought about were the cars and exploring the world. I didn't get "influenced" or traumatized by the violence because to me it just looked stupid and fake. I could separate reality from fantasy and the fact is, most kids past the age of 13 can unless they have some sort of serious mental issue. Past the age of 13, trying to censor your children is a bit ridiculous because they're going to hear about everything at school and then want to find out and all of that crap. If you keep blocking them from this and that, they're going to get rebellious.

 

There's a problem with quoting one line out of someone's message- the whole idea is miscontrued. I made it clear when I stated "...my experiences with them has been less than stellar" & "You have a valid point when referring to not every kid is immature..." Somehow you neglected to quote me on those lines as well- because if you had, there would be no reason for you to respond in the fashion in which you did.

 

Let me rephrase what I stated earlier- the majority of MY experience of playing with the younger generation has been negative. This is not always- just most of the time. As a result, I personally do not prefer to play GTA Online with adolescents. And yes, I do use both the mute & kick buttons; those options work well. No need to get upset with me over this, or any one else stating their opinion. If you personally do not behave this way online, then be proud of yourself and keep it moving.

VR is already with us, its only a matter of time before its mainstream, this is going to be a huge game changer! For the better im most instances, but as you say above, the emersion into games such as this is going to to be a cause for concern im sure...

Your gamer profile usually has the correct age although it can be faked, so the second line of defense should be a "unbroken voice" system which can detect a high pitched prepubescent voice and flag them for further consideration.

Now, if I had the choice I would simply block the online functionality of these kids who play the game, but I know that would get backlash. Why not just put all of these kids in servers of thier own? Just like bad sport we could have a squeaker lobby to combat all the bullsh*t we gear from children trying to act like a man in this game.

Sadly that's true, those things you've mentioned.

 

Asked the kicking part once. Didn't know the others in the game also were the kid's age (between 5 and 10 I assume), got a message that people were vote kicking me and that I should do something (Rockstar message). So I left, joined session in progress, killed them, placed a bounty on them which I collected myself, killed them more, they tried to vote kick me again, I left myself and did the same as before untill they left 1 by 1 =)

But having to do this each time kids screaming... nah, I rather save ammo for misisons/heist and important stuff. Still it was funny to do.

Age for people playing varies... Generally for GTA I wouldn't let anyone under 14 play, some I wouldn't let until they were 18. It depends on the maturity of an individual, everyone is different and you cant judge an age group in anyone particular way. 14 year olds can be far more intelligent and well rounded people than some 30 year olds.

 

Being able to play GTA depends on your ability to distinguish games from reality.
