About Kids Playing This Game

Here's the thing I don't get. I'm sure some of you out there played GTA when you were younger, I know I had. So why is it different now all of a sudden? That's just being a hypocrite. If kids are really bothering you, just mute them.

Do you really not think that older GTAs were more innocent than GTA5 though?

 

I first started playing GTAIII when I was around 15. It came out when I was in high school. Picking up a hooker at that time meant the car would rock back and forth for a bit and then they'd hop out. If you swiveled the camera you'd see your character and the prostitute sitting side by side not touching each other as the car rocked. The game nearly got banned with SA because of almost fully removed, completely innocent "sex scene" called hot coffee. NPCs back then were like paper dolls you'd run over and they'd flop over, there was no rag doll effect.

 

I'm not that uptight, I don't have kids so I'm not sure if I'd let them play GTA at what age, but I do think the "you played older GTAs" is a false equivalency.

 

 

That is true. The older GTA games weren't as detailed, I remember that. During shootings, heads can get blown off, but that's about it.

I'm just highlighting a reality of life to him. If they want something they have to earn it. It they want it sooner they need to man up and give good reason for why they should get it sooner. If they can't honestly show good reason to have their parent buy it (by being immature in lying and not accepting the reality of the restrictions) then that's more reason not to have it. It usually gets them off the case. If they persist and use the line, my friend has it, then it can be taken they have experience and with discretion and normal (good) behaviour they might get restricted access.

It makes sense, and it's so simple.

There are different laws outside of your country, certainly retailers can be banned from selling 18 rated games here in the UK if they're caught selling them to those underage.

 

It's your opinion it's not broken but I certainly think it's messed up and if I had kids I wouldn't let them near anything like this...let alone adults that bully them.
