I agree with all of you, but didn't any of you star playing +18 Games before coming of age? Coz i did...

Yep.

Thank Sony for including party chat.

Or just mute him ?

*shrugs* I did. The news is constantly talking about people dying which hammers the point you don't come back if you die.

You are not the world.

I commend you for having the ability to not reenact what you see, but your personal experience does not dictate the norms.

Who said anything about it just being the parents? They could get the babysitter to help, older siblings, trusted neighbors and friends.

You didn't answer my question...

And even then: Can you guarantee that other people would help?

You're pulling ideas for an ideal world...a world that doesn't exist.

Truth is that none of those people would care nor is it their concern.

Also, why do these people have to do a job that is the parent's responsibility?

See, this is exactly what I'm talking about...

This topic exists because someone took the time to make it.

Apparently we're not on the same page if it this what you understood out of it.

Lol I know that, my ego gets beaten enough to ensure that. Thank you. True and yet it's a rarity to hear about kids killing because of video games. It's mostly dumbass adults.

A babysitter is paid to help. The good ones take their job seriously, and do what the parents ask. Most older siblings as well as family will if aren't busy the day of asking. Babysitting is someone doing a parents job should there be no babysitters?

As to your question. Somewhere in the middle I'm sure unfortunately I can't offer statistics

I'm sorry but what adults have killed over a video game? Besides them blasting someone to steal it, I've never seen any kind of connection between video games and violent crime.

Unless of course I want to believe the BS from Rupert Murdoch

He wasn't talking about adults killing over games

He's talking about adults saying children kill over games

I know that and I pointed out that kids rarely if ever kill because of games

Neither does your generalization. You're reminding me of those journalists that thinks if a kid murders someone, it's because of a game.

And what exactly did I generalize?

Not once and in no place did I mention anything to co-relate with your example.

Apparently the idea of not letting a minor touch media unintended for him is now wrong...

"It is.

If sh*tty parents don't care what they expose their children to, that's their problem and sooner or later they will reap the rewards."

You made it seem like if a child is exposed to GTA, they would become criminals right away.

Parents buying games for their kids doesn't make them bad parents, nor does parents not buying them make good parents.

Um yes it does if it's 17+/18+.

On one side, it's normal to start playing games at a young age. On another, haven't games evolved to a stadium where they're more meant for mature audiences? I mean, back when we were young, in the 3D era for most, the car wobbled when doing a hooker. Now, we get elaborate HD sex anims, in FPV. The latter doesn't really sound suitable for a child :D
18+ games used to be nothing a few years back, but now they're at a stage where they can seriously damage a child. I'm not saying GTA is like that now, tho.

I am an oldtimer. I have a daughter. My daughter is not into videogamers other than candycrush. She is old enough to make up her own mind. Whether or not kids should play gta is up to their parents. But children know the difference between good and bad. Same argument would be to forbid Harry Potter, because it exposes their tender minds to witchcraft.

When gta was released, I was totally new to the social aspect of gaming. I accepted all friends request, helped out some kiddies with their KD ratio, lost races to get turbo unlocked etc. Some were cool, but the vast majority were spoiled little sh*ts. Spamming sticky's, rush in head first, blew up my PV with me in it to inflate their KD, friend or no friend.

One day I had enough. I cleaned up my friends list and threw out all kiddies. Now I am very selective about friend request. Only real team players make the cut.

V was targeted for children like cigarettes were 80 years ago. It's unbelievable.

also no, i hate to be the one to say it but buying a M rated game for your child isn't bad parenting. Abuse, Neglect, not feeding, clothing, educating, or teaching your children right from wrong is being a bad parent. Running away from your responsibilities; abandoning your child is being a bad parent. Letting a child do whatever they please with no repercussion is being a bad parent. But buying a fuxkin video game for them, as long as you monitor their activities and impose limits, is NOT being a bad parent.

i sense a lot of butthurt children and adults in here who were NOT allowed to play video games (or M rated ones) when they were younger, thus they are implying that children shouldn't play these types of games because they are young. i was not even a teenager yet when i got my first GTA, (VC) and i'm doing quite well for myself. everybody's case is different, of course, but damn, there is some stupidity in here for sure.

BTW, i am by no means saying how anyone should raise their children. If someone doesn't want to let their child play an adult rated game, that's fine. Nothing wrong with it. [in today's internet age, censorship only goes so far, with easy access to the internet; de-sensitivity may occur unbeknownst to you; but that's a whole different discussion for a different topic] but, to say that a parent is a bad parent, because they let their child play a game, and you have no idea what that particular parent gives or sacrifices to provide for that child, you're a fukkin moron - and nothing more, just a judgmental, condescending, moron.

Hello guys, I don't really see what's all the child discrimination is about, but I've been heavily insulted for being underaged, and I really think games should not be rated on age, it should be rated on maturity. I am almost 13, but I'm mentally mature enough to play and understand this game. The kids you hear screaming "ni**er" and other popular insults that sound like they are 7 are obviously not mature and should not be playing this game. Hope this topic doesn't get deleted but what do you guys think about kids on this game?

If you're under 21 you should not be playing this game.. and your parents should be ashamed for buying such a game for you if you're under 15... period. But parents these days are mostly worthless anyway, from what I can tell... it is now Trevor's world...

under 21? your retarded if i can have sex with your mom at 21 i can play gta

Typical teenage response.

Not once did I say that they would become criminals. That would be an extreme.

They are however, exposed to lewdness far beyond their age group that is inappropriate for them.

the game rating system is in place for a reason.. these are games for adults who wanna play with other adults. its a shame parents buy these games for their kids. i am a parent and a gamer and i draw the line with GTA/ saints row for my 11 year old. i cannot stand sh*t talking little kids and would like a few mins alone with parents who let their kids play these games.

Lol you are stupid the rating is 17 to please annoying parents doesn't change the facts that the ads and shark cards are all marketed towards kids and if your over 25 playing video games i can only feel sorry for you

Implying that letting your child witness explicit sexual activity and violence isn't mental abuse & neglect.

The idea that shark cards are targeted towards children is the stupidest thing I've ever heard...beyond the obvious reasons, it's notably targeted towards adults because it's them who have the least amount of time to play and therefore might be convinced to purchase them.

I have never seen a single person on this website under 18 say they purchased shark cards. It's always the adult who purchased one.

People seem to focus too much on what's good for the kids. When I buy an 18+ game, I have an expectation not to have to deal with kids. Why should I have to endure their shrill voices and undeveloped problem solving skills when the law clearly states they shouldn't be allowed anywhere near this game?

I paid money for an 18+ game, not an E for everyone game, and as such I have the right to have a game free of kids and all of the censorship and baby-proofing that comes with it.

If parents buy their 11 years old kid a 18+ game, it'd be their fault.

However, just because an 11 year-old plays a Mature-rated game, doesn't mean he'll grow bad in mind.

It still comes back to the kid himself and his parents on how they direct their children.

I agree with this.

Its scientifically proven that kids are less able to distinguish between right and wrong, as conscience isn't fully developed, especially in a social context such as GTAO where there is so much one-upmanship and peer pressure. Its not a game for children , in the same way that 18 rated porn isn't for kids. Its rated 18 for a reason , and a lot of that comes from medical / scientific and behavioural studies / evidence.

A 12 year old kid cannot walk into a store and buy it , so the parents are at fault , and obviously don't give a crap about their kids development and probably just buy it to shut them up for a few hours
