About Kids Playing This Game

The ratings on games no longer have purpose. No and days games are tailored with the idea little kids will play it. How exactly would you stop them from playing? It's easy to fake your age on the internet, family can buy the game, there is no solution to the problem

Ya , it's called being a Parent!

Being a parent has nothing to do with it.

I agree with all of you, but didn't any of you star playing +18 Games before coming of age? Coz i did...

yes but there was no online to annoy the public.

GTA should be properly age restricted

ESRB_M.png

It is.

If sh*tty parents don't care what they expose their children to, that's their problem and sooner or later they will reap the rewards.

PS4 should unveil a new retina scanner that ascertains the players age , and if they are younger than 18, drills should emerge from the controller and bore into their hands, removing their thumbs and turning them into a bloody stumpy pulp.

This sounds more childish that screaming "That was so psyched!"

I agree <17 year olds should be near this game, but as long as the majority perception that "video games are for children" remains, you will have irresponsible people giving minors things they shouldn't.

You will not beat the system.

Instead gather a group of friends you share ideas with and play with them.

The adults are just as bad as the kids.

Your point?

This is a game intended for adults.

Much like a bar, skin joint or a night club, you will find adults in it that are fooling around or expressing themselves in a very socially inappropriate manner....which is why these establishments exist.

And like bars & clubs, kids shouldn't be near them.

The difference is when I played them underage I was playing alone. Online wasn't a thing so I wasn't pissing off everyone that was unfortunate enough to come into contact with me.

I bought GTA to race cars

Stopped at this comment... then Forza. Seriously.

I played one of those forzas and thought it was piss-poor . Very Dull. Much preferred Burnout Paradise

Soo u bought gta for racing don't like forza and u love burnout 💥😳💥 my mind was just blown that makes no sense considering forza is the only racing game named and if u don't like it that means u really don't know how to race have fun with the squeakers blowing up cars in burnout

Oh come on now, what you're proposing is simply ludicrous. As if no one here hasn't played GTA at a young age...

not online where they can annoy other players

I'm seeing a lot of hypocrisy here."It was ok for me to play it when I was a kid blah blah blah but it isn't Ok for kids to play it now blah blah blah".Not to mention some downright idiocy"If anyone under 18 plays gta their lives are ruined and their parents should be hung, drawn and quartered"

Someone even compared it to bars and strip clubs :D .

Video games won't harm kids so long as they are mature enough for them, grow up in a good environment and have parents to tell them what's right and wrong.Myself and loads of people I know are proof of that.We don't beat up hookers,do drugs, shoot police or do street racrs.Well, atleast not on schooldays.

This. My parents basically said that life is not a video game. There is no respawns when you died, no cheats to help you in life, if you kill or hurt someone badly you will go to jail do not pass go, do not collect a hundred dollars, you can't just set down the controller when life gets too hard. Basically the same with movies

Parents buying games for their kids doesn't make them bad parents, nor does parents not buying them make good parents.

I'm sure exposing kids to intense violence, strong sexual themes and drug related content is good for them. Ask any Psychiatrist.

Oh and not to mention the family-friendly player-chat that is heard online.

Knowing the difference between life and a game doesn't make you mature, it makes you sane.

So long as the parents properly explain to the kid that absolutely none of it is real, and if necessary watch the kid or limit his gaming time there shouldn't be a problem. The wonderful world of the mute button and xbox has setting where you can't hear anyone not on your friends list

no one can stop a parent from buying the game for their children.

Jeez OP, if you're any good at racing, even catch-up won't affect you on certain tracks. Don't join idiotic tracks like Commute, Route 68, Congestion charge, etc.

Or just leave if you see catch up on. If someone rams me off, I just try to catch them and win. I don't ram them off unless I'm really pissed. If I know I have no chance of winning after being rammed off, I just leave.

Tl; dr: catch up on = quit.

You expect a child to grasp the concept that the violence he sees in a game that closely resembles the violence seen on the news is "not real"?

if necessary watch the kid or limit his gaming time there shouldn't be a problem.

Real world; How many parents do anything that remotely resembles this?

If they did, this topic wouldn't exist.

What makes OP think only young children are the ones purposefully ramming players in races?

Simple solution: join/host non contact races.

*shrugs* I did. The news is constantly talking about people dying which hammers the point you don't come back if you die.

Who said anything about it just being the parents? They could get the babysitter to help, older siblings, trusted neighbors and friends. This topic exists because someone took the time to make it. Not everyone has the time to do such or you would hear success stories

I don't see a problem with them playing it on single player. When they get online with the "real" bad guys, not just the tough kids they know from school, that it gets to be a problem.

How many dumbasses do you know that keep all there usernames the same so it makes doxxing them easy? Yea I know a bunch too.

See, I started playing GTA at the age of six.

Back in 1997. There was no online until I've gotten my original xbox.

And even then, the only game I remember playing online daily was Halo 2. Glitching out of the map, team snipers. I was 14-15 around that time.

My GT was AhugeBONGrip. I had no idea what it meant, but that's what I got for buying a used console.

This day in age, with games, is that literally everything involves being online at some point.

That's the problem. Another problem are the parents, letting kids handle such advanced technology.

You think when cell phones were becoming affordable and popular I got one? Nope, had to wait until I was 16.

I can't wait to have kids and have them become the 2% of America that's actually smart, and not f*cking idiotic.

Also, why in the blue blazes did you get GTA V just to race? That money could have been better spent on a dedicated racing game.

You are not the world.

I commend you for having the ability to not reenact what you see, but your personal experience does not dictate the norms.

Who said anything about it just being the parents? They could get the babysitter to help, older siblings, trusted neighbors and friends.

You didn't answer my question...

And even then: Can you guarantee that other people would help?

You're pulling ideas for an ideal world...a world that doesn't exist.

Truth is that none of those people would care nor is it their concern.

Also, why do these people have to do a job that is the parent's responsibility?

See, this is exactly what I'm talking about...

I'm not a legal expert by any means, and I know laws differ from state to state, country to country. But as far as I'm aware, there is no law against anyone of any age playing GTA5.

Are there laws against selling the game to kids? Yeah. But no laws that forbid them from playing said games.

The Adult Only rating is an industry recommendation only and even in places where it's law, exceptionally hard to enforce. Certainly not worth the time or effort required to do so.

So, that being said. If you run across these kids going forward, do what I do. Start/online/players/mute. If they're in a race, finish it and leave during next round or just host your own races and set it to no contact. I do that often and have no problem finding other racers.

Is this true? Its not like movie ratings? Where it is illegal unless accompanied by an adult. Its pointless then, like most laws and regulations.

Like with alcohol its illegal to buy unless youre 21. But its illegal to be drunk in public for any age. Its legal to drink at home with your parents if they approve and youre under 21. Its illegal to sell more booze to a person who you know is intoxicated. Making virtually all bar sales illegal after the 2nd drink is served.

Asinine.

Lol I know that, my ego gets beaten enough to ensure that. Thank you. True and yet it's a rarity to hear about kids killing because of video games. It's mostly dumbass adults.

A babysitter is paid to help. The good ones take their job seriously, and do what the parents ask. Most older siblings as well as family will if aren't busy the day of asking. Babysitting is someone doing a parents job should there be no babysitters?

As to your question. Somewhere in the middle I'm sure unfortunately I can't offer statistics

I'm sorry but what adults have killed over a video game? Besides them blasting someone to steal it, I've never seen any kind of connection between video games and violent crime.

Unless of course I want to believe the BS from Rupert Murdoch
