@SkyHunted : It's obvious. You use Data Execution Prevention (DEP) on Windows. Turn it off OR make an exclusion

Seriously people, this isn't a "my game crashed what causes it?" thread. Just because the game crashed doesn't mean Mod Loader is the cause, and just because it also provides its own error dump doesn't mean you have to post it here expecting help all the time.

Mod Loader v0.2.0

  • Rewritten from scratch to be more flexible and powerful
  • Most mods can be refreshed without getting out of the game (press F4 to refresh, auto-refresh soon)
  • The -nomods command line has been added
  • Extremely descriptive unhandled exception filter
  • Nested modloader folders has been removed
  • Mod Loader config files changed a lot (please delete your current modloader.ini and let Mod Loader create another)
  • The std.data plugin has been removed, that means .dat/.cfg files aren't handled anymore (it'll be back soon)
  • CLEO scripts inside cleo sub folders aren't loaded anymore (this is a fix)
  • Custom missions aren't loaded at startup anymore (this is a fix)
  • So many fixes and changes that I don't even remember about them

Before taking any action please read those f*cking notes:

Previously the unstable channel was GTA Garage and the stable channel GitHub, however, that's wrong, visibly normal users takes the GTA Garage path to the releases, so now, we're swapping those channels to avoid normal users using unstable releases.

So, this is an unstable release, an unstable release is unstable because either it's incomplete, the developer have no idea if it is stable enough, or because the developer knows that it's not working very well. This case is the incomplete + dunno (as in bold) case, what this release essentially means is: I want you to find and report bugzzzzzzz!!
It also means that if you are new to Mod Loader, don't even try this release, I don't want trouble.

The Mod Loader Setup game menu is disabled (and is not included in the CHANGELOG as you might've noticed), but you can enable it in the modloader/.data/config.ini, but don't come with bugs related to the menu, please, unless it crashes your game. Do not touch the ini files with a .ini.0 extension, those are default configuration, when you open the game for the first time it'll create the non-default-configurable ini file.

Also, I'll reinforce the idea std.data has been removed, no .dat/.cfg support.

The config and internal files have changed a lot, so I reallyyyyy recommend you to both delete your modloader/modloader.ini and modloader/.data folder before installing this.

Please read the readme file. When reporting a bug, be smart, the readme teaches you how to be smart!

So, if you have read everything above, you can go ahead.

I'd say yes, but I don't know, you guys will tell me how it goes. As this was rewritten from scratch, any bug that happened before mayn't happen anymore, and bugs that didn't happen before, may happen! I really don't have any ideia of the stableness of this release.

Ok, this one is hard! Nor I nor friends could reproduce the bug...

So, here's std.stream with debug symbols, it might create a more useful crash log

Crash seems to be caused by the loading of .col files. Removing the one .col file I had in the modloader folder fixed the problem.

Mod Loader v0.2.0 w/ Hot Fix 1

  • Fixed streamed ifp files not being handled
  • Fixed streamed col/rrr/scm files not being re-registered properly
I expect you to have redden that post! It's the same link.

 

I could easily notice the problem when I saw that both log crashed while registering a col file.

That's why I ask for the entire log, it may seem irrelevant, but it mayn't be that irrelevant.

It's not complete and you have to enable it yourself. Good job reading everything Link said after he specifically said it's important to read everything.

Hmm, I dunno, but would it be feasible or possible for mods to be installed on the San Andreas User Files directory, just like in The Sims 2/3?

I usually prefer to have additional game files in the game's directory but I still like that idea. Some mods/plugins don't work through WINE on Linux so I woudn't have to create another copy of SA or switch files/folders.

 

An option for choosing the path to the San Andreas User Files directory and seperate User Tracks directory could also come in handy.
