That has to do with a lack of mipmaps, I believe, I may be wrong.

I had mipmaps turned on when I took the pic though, very strange... If mipmaps are the case, maybe Silent could add an adjustable mipmaps thingy in his 'Patch. ;)

No, not the mipmapping from the game settings. The mipmaps in the .txd files. There is a program called G-TXD and you can add mipmaps to the textures.

Lack of mipmaps on fence textures is usually intentional, so they don't become blurry or transparent. Sadly, it causes that effect. If I recall, anti-aliasing (through drivers, or the game settings) does not work on alpha textures, so it looks even worse. You also have the alpha blending bug on top of all this, but from what I'm aware SilentPatch two-pass rendering makes that go away.

I personally wonder if it's possible to add mipmaps to most textures in the game quickly and easily, without having to extract txds and doing it all manually. A lot of textures in the game don't have mipmaps at all, only a few things like roads.

Yeah, I wish the roads and train tracks too all had mipmaps. It looks really ugly when you look up a road and you see some pixely crap, lol.

That's why I hate HD textures pack. They got even far more worse, very ugly, too grainy, too pixelated, too ugly and my eyes hurts.

What is the f*cking point in having super ultra omega next-gen black hole fast as light titty porn hairy HD textures in a 10 years old game??

F*ck HD, we want PS2 quality lol.

And besides, times has changed so the hardware too. Back in 2003-2004 we had utterly sh*tty hardware and R* tried to optimise it for super low-end PC hardware.

Untill 2014, R* knows the PC hardware got whole a lot better and look at GTAV. Outstanding different from the last gen consoles.

Truer words were never spoken, my friend. And that also made me laugh more than I should've done, hehe.

But I'm totally 100% with you, low-poly/quality modifications and mipmapped stuff fits in San Andreas more than a "Super HD Ferrari with gangsta wheels 420"... (your description was much better than mine was, hahaha)

Hahaha yeah I know, sometimes i am like that :p

It really doesn't make any sense to have 2k or 4k textures in an outdated game like GTA SA. Only 12 years old kids will get horny at 4k ultra hd next-gen textures pack

and then putting it on the internet and claims they made dem HD pack themself.

And then replacing every car in GTA SA with a sh*tloads of Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bugatits, super high detailed playboy rims or ghetto gangsta rims and all that kind of sh*t.

Those kinda mods are destroying it. That is not average stupid, that is advaaaanced retarded lol

I have the same opinion. The best version of San Andreas is the PS2 version and then the PC version.

Pretty sure he was being sarcastic. That PS2 screen looks awful.

Either way, this is off-topic.

Seems like a stutter with FLAC audios is finally gone. f*ck yes.

Now, WAVs need some tweaking. Current decoder for User Tracks WAVs is incredibly picky.

When I change the "San Andreas User Files"-dir in the exe (gta_sa.set, saves, etc.), "User Tracks" won't be used from within the new path.

Would be great if you'd mod this as well. Like defining the path via .INI file.

(yep, not a fix - but while you're at it; kinda)

Um, that doesn't seem to be the case. In VCSPC it's all fine.

Off-topic: Only for little things like the grass, lens flare, car shine is best (for me).

Whatever, waiting for SilentPatch. :cookie:

Will 5.1 surround FLAC be supported or just the regular stereo ones?

Mono and Stereo. Any extra channels will not get played.

So silent just posted something relevant on Ginput thread. It's about time for your ginput version for SA, with vibration support and all that good stuff. Why not include a "proper joystick support" in your patch?

It'd delay the release by at least a month :pp

Also, I just don't want to do it. It feels like backstabbing Deji.

If you two can come to an agreement, like, Deji allowing you to use his previous code, then you improving and fixing things, we will have a better product and I don't see no one being stabbed. Anyway.

A few pages back something was mentioned about unused phone and jetpack icons, it would be great to have them back. Any news on that?

Unless Silent can add them without editing main.scm then please no.

Editing main.scm? Nope, never. Not in this patch :p

Sidetracked with making SA largeaddressaware... seems like it can use up to 4GB RAM now.

As Silent said, just Mono and Stereo, and ONLY up to 48Khz. Since most 5.1 FLACS are usually 88.2Khz or 96Khz (at least the ones I see from certain websites), you shouldn't be running into any problems, at least we hope, the confirmed formats that DO work are the following from the stress test:

- Mono // Stereo

- 22.05Khz // 24Khz // 32Khz // 44.1Khz // 48Khz

- 8bit // 16bit // 24bit

Any combination of the above should cover most basic rips, such as CD, Standard DVD LPCM, and ripping from other video game formats.

Is there any relevant sound (quality) differences in game? I mean, an MP3 128 and a FLAC? Cause I think SA have it's, how I say, internal "EQ" for sound. The stock audio files from the game are in OGG format, right? When extracted, it sounds different than In game. MP3 320 don't seems to sound that different than the stock OGG in game, at least for me.

FLAC gets treated pretty much the same as LPCM WAVE in this case (only with greater ranges in terms of format options), plus I don't apply the EQ in game (sounds pretty dated now), but quality wise, it sounds as it should, at least during the stress test I could tell which was which which is a good indication that the game was now handling the playback properly. So it will sound as good as the limit it goes up to, which in our case is Stereo 48Khz 24bit.

So we don't have to use "memory512.cs" to prevent texture disappearing?

Correct me if I'm wrong but you patch will have this "function"?

No, it's a different thing. And the patch will not make the EXE /LARGEADDRESSAWARE, but instead I'll also provide a small tool to patch a III/VC/SA EXE to have this flag enabled.

A sneak peak of the tool:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/46581994/largeaddress.zip

Drag 'n drop a GTA exe on this executable and then follow the piss easy instructions. Requires Elevated access. Now you can overmod your games even more :pp

I'll include it as a separate download in SilentPatch.
