Please add support for german version of Vice City! The SilentPatch for Vice City didn't work (as if it wasn't installed) until now. With the new release of May 2018 I had the hope that it works fine now with german version, but now it even makes Vice City crash at start screen (freeze). :( Compatibility mode doesn't work.

 

Strangely the SilentPatch for GTA 3 and San Andreas works without any problems.

I've noticed that even GTA 3 crashes now on start screen. There is the message "please insert cd or press ESC to cancel" and if I press ESC, nothing happens. After short time the game crashes. What's wrong with this new version? The old version works fine.

New builds started using patterns for new fixes. If you crash, then it means they are failing.

 

Just grab a non-German EXE and it'll work fine.

@Silent Okay thanks! In GTA 3 it seems to work! :) But GTA Vice City crashes in AmmuNation, Firetruck missions etc. with every non-german exe (although the SilentPatch works then). :/

Hey Silent, I'm curious to know, is it entirely possible to eliminate this "low res" textures popping? You know, sometimes building and road textures appear so low res it's ridiculous. I know your patch effectively removed, like 90 percent of that particular problem which GTA SA had, I was just wondering could it be done all the way? Cheers man!

What problem are you talking about? Sounds like you're referring to LODs, which are not a problem at all.

Usually that happens more when you have the Frame limiter off and you go very fast through the city (It is recommended to have it turned on, because the game has many problems running at over 35 FPS) and otherwise is normal in any open world game

No, actually I keep it strictly ON, always locked at 30 FPS, it's just that I noticed that bug, or whatever it is in every GTA game -  sometimes the same happens even in V, it's just harder to spot it - I was just curious what exactly causing this to appear? So called ' memory leaks ' or similar? 

 

Edit: For example, there are well known buildings, that no matter how slow you were approaching them, they'll always appear like murky detail-less objects and only after you get really close, full texture will appear.

Using p2dfx and setting normal object drawdistance higher should do the trick (except first time load-in since that depends on your HDD's/SSD's speed).

In the next build, please consider bringing back Nvc shader. So people dont have to instal skygfx just for this feature. Thank you.

Then you're screwed because that won't happen again, so you don't have alternative than install skygfx.

Why put it back in Silentpatch if it's already on Skygfx?

If you still want to continue using those, try SkyGfx – it provides both features and they are far superior to my implementations.

 

It's not coming back - why should I ship it (and it was a lot of pretty hacky code) while SkyGfx provides the same, but done in a much better way? You can spend 5 minutes configuring SkyGfx to only add NVC shader and nothing else.

Fine then. About build 29, when i played long enough(+- 1 hour)my Sfx(ambience,gun,vehicle, ped sounds)suddenly stopped working. Everything went silent except radio and menu sound. Restarting the game is the only way to bring the sfx back. ive never encountered this bug in build 28.

Sounds like you're still on Windows XP? That'd be a "normal" game bug there.

Oh I see Silent is here. Maybe today he could say something about enabling ps2 fire shadows.

Do you have modloader or FLA? I have no idea what causes this problem, but if I recall correctly audio streaming uses same code as IMG streaming - maybe it just deadlocks, like for those people who get frequent black screens when leaving interiors (but only if using FLA or an outdated modloader).

About Cross Racing Championship 2005:

 

My shader fix got sent directly to Invictus Games and they noticed it - looks like they liked it more than initially expected!

 

As you may know, the game became freeware after this issue started occuring, and eventually even that version got taken down - but now that this issue is fixed, Invictus is interested in re-releasing the game on Steam with additional fixes! I'm working on those together with RAXAT/ImageCode (the guy behind SLRR v2.3.1), and we got a lot of stuff done during this time!

 

Most notably, we fixed plenty of issues related to widescreen resolutions (notice HUD is not stretching anymore), but also added Antialiasing, improved resolutions of car reflections, shadows, water reflections...

I'm super excited for this and happy this fix might have prolonged game's life a lot!

#SilentPatchIt Any chance on GTA IV Silentpatch in the future?. Is it possible to fix framerate issues in games? (Poor optimization GTA IV) EFLC runs better then IV i got the recommended requirements and got horrible framerate in IV Crashing issues on certain missions Crash and bug fixes.

it certainly does not. TBOGT has lower res textures so it might run better, but TLAD has same quality textures as IV and runs same.

@fire shadow stuff: Agreed, I really like that effect and it should be added to SilentPatch

 

Anyways, @SilentCan you tell me which memory addresses restore the default text shadows' size in SA and VC? They all have drop-shadows and I don't like it, I could have used the Widescreen Fix to restore the original behavior but it doesn't work on XP.

 

Or better yet, how about an official INI switch for the drop-shadows?

Hello, sometimes melee attacks won't works, guns everytime perfects. I use latest silent patch, windows 8.1 and vc 1.0 exe.
