Another GTA Fan

I just want to quickly mention, and I'm not sure if this is even possible via your patch, but could the 'extra' wheel when repairing the Rhino tank be fixed?

 

I know you can't repair it by normal means, but when using the cheat 'HESOYAM' or a mod that repairs vehicles, using it for the Rhino tank causing it to gain an extra wheel in the center. I just thought I'd bring this up incase you're not aware of this.

That sounds weird/fun, I can take a look since I already fixed plenty of issues like this (Towtruck hook not having physics after being fixed etc.). Adding to todo!

Now the game is randomly locked during loading ... it can be when you start the game, or when loading a zone, or teleporting

Are you using Modloader or FLA? Both can and will cause this - but Modloader has been fixed for that months ago, so if you are on an up to date version it will work fine. FLA wasn't updated for it yet (but SP is ready so once FLA is aware of the bug they'll coexist together nicely).

In fact, I have the Modloader, but the game does not even start when I had the Silentpatch inside the modloader folder, I put the silentpatch in the main folder and it works, but it gives me that problem

 

Update: Hmm ok, I realized that I had not updated Modloader in months ... I updated it, and I started the game a few times and it has not happened, thanks

Then you are using an outdated Modloader (new modloader would not have this freeze and it would be able to load SP). Update it.

You didn't answer this question in the RockstarVision Discord server, so I'll ask you the same question here.

Would you fix crashing the game when an attacker of the missile doesn't exist on missile's collision in VC (and probably III)? The simplest solution would be just deleting missiles whose attackers don't exist (just like in later GTAs). If you're not willing to do, I'll create a plugin for this.

Yes, this version is now fully FLA-friendly, so there's no separate download.

They worked flawlessly. Thanks for your effort. Would you mind If I ask for a favour Midtown Madness 2. This game was very good but it has very bad performance with high end systems. I tried dgvodoo etc nothing helped for a good experience.

That is due to most of the things in sa using timings that only work with 30fps.It would be way too annoying to change all of this.

Yep, the game is made to play at 30FPS, with Frame limiter Off problems arise when swimming or diving (It is much slower) when jumping on parachutes, (the turns are more uncontrolled) and many other problems

Fire RPG, press F1 to enter replay, press again to exit, missile should now appear where you fired it. Game will crash if you shoot it.

 

I think that's how I did it

Found a bug in a ddraw.dll component for GTA 3 and Vice City.

There is a well-known problem with "Cannot find video mode" message when there is no gta3 / gta_vc.set file in Save Directory. Your fix should in that case run a game in native resolution but apparently it mistakenly takes into account Windows custom scaling parameter. So, I have a 1920x1080 resolution on my laptop and a 125% scaling — and I get an error "Cannot find 1536x864x32 video mode" (and 1536 = 1920 / 1.25, 864 = 1080 / 1.25).

There is an easy workaround of course — just temporarily set scaling to 100%, run the game and make some changes to default settings so that the .set file is created but still.

 

I have a Win 10 system and running Steam versions of games. Let me know if you need any other details.

And what is the condition for something like this? Can you do it in vanilla game or without any semi-complex trickery?You can't do it in vanilla game because there're no lines that give any ped a rocket launcher.

You have to use scripts/tools that can give peds them or alter main.scm to encounter the glitch. I also used my script to check if the glitch isn't mod's fault.

Note that peds who are armed with RPG seems to be able to shoot properly only if the target is moving so fast using such as vehicles, or the missiles will explode immediately right after they are created (at least in VC).

Speaking of more lighting things, the flickering white lamp posts in Las Venturas (they're all over Redsands East and Whitewood Estates), don't actually light peds and vehicles, even though they have coronas and shadows on the ground. A "ghost light" if you will.

That's very useful info! I was aware of this oddity, but never linked it with DPI scaling... I believe I can mess with that setting programmatically so may be able to do something with it!

 

There is a proper workaround for that, though - just use DPI scaling compatibility modes for game's EXE instead of changing it to 100% globally.
