Using this patch for GTA III Steam version 1.1 here and its great love it thank-you.

 

Having a problem though, whenever I die the game freezes. Car explosion, drowning, beating, and gunshot all cause game to freeze at moment of death.

 

Running Ginput and some textures, but even with them disabled I still can't die with SilentPatchIII.asi or it freezes. Music keeps playing, no steam overlay or buton inputs work except esc key. Hitting ESC closes game and states "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Please close the program" no real error code.

 

Other than that it seems to work great as long as I'm alive :) Any ideas what could be wrong here?

That's an odd one. I'll have to check it.

Downgraded my Steam 1.1 with downgrader .bat. Everything works great no lock/freeze on deaths. Still odd it wouldn't work with Steam 1.1 exe

Yeah, you're right. Lack of this effect in GTAIII confused me. Not sure about release PS2 version but screens from early build shows that it was implemented a long time ago.

I still haven't picked up my jaw, it dropped so hard :orly:

That's just the alpha texture difference, the method and style is pretty much the same, for those of you interested, this code which Silent has used for the rotors (with _DK's fix) has been on a bit of a journey:

 

Started with main code from Vice City PC > III Aircraft Mod > Vice City Stories PC Edition > Back to San Andreas PC :p

They did what was thought to be impossible, I wonder what they are going to do next for VCSPCE and/or SilentPatch for SA.

Ash is right about the textures, that second video I posted is with the V police maverick and the rotors look a lot better with the texture they come with. Although, if a modder doesn't create the rotors correctly, it can cause weird issues with alpha textures. Oh, and the 3d glasses thing started from here I believe.

Hah, sort of but not really - @The Leviathan started it originally, then this topic started from Have a Question v2, and I just piled on. :p

 

Anyways, I'm waiting for that anticipated SA version of SilentPatch :ph34r:

Trails weren't cut from the PC version, they weren't in any version of San Andreas.

It's likely due to the video output on CRT TVs or something, which would be hard to reimplement unless if you smear Vaseline on your monitor. :p

They're referring to the yellowish tint the PS2 image of SA has. That's definitely not something the TV does, it's something in-game.

A Cathode Ray Tube television's screen is actually blurred a bit,since the RGB pixel count is lesser on a CRT screen.

 

Also,great job by Silent and _DK,"he's just being silent",but that does mean he's doing something good. ;)

That yewllowish tint was actually a bug with the PS2 graphics synthesizer, The PCSX2 emulator proves this as it fixes this issue and displays the colors like the PC version.

Though PCSX2 in Hardware mode can't display postprocess, that's why the game looks darker. And there's no thermal/night vision nor underwater camera effect.

What? do you think that an emulator is more accurate than the real hardware? LOL

If there was a bug on Graphics Synthesizer, EVERY PS2 game would have color issues. There's no bug at all with the PS2 hardware. What you see in the Playstation 2 version of San andreas is just an post-processing effect,nothing more. And it does more than just making the screen yellow . C'mon,don't spread wrong info!
