Do you enjoy making use of candles?

Would you rather work by candlelight or regular lighting if you are at your desk at night? Foruming, watching a movie on the computer, catching up on email, drinking excessively, or whatever.

 

Lately with the abundance of candles I've been given for thanksgiving and now Christmas, I've found that I rather enjoy turning the lights off and using a couple of candles instead.

 

Does anyone else prefer this? Please feel free to post in this thread about all of your candle related experiences.

I used to.. been quite some time though but I enjoy the dim lighting as well. Not to mention, better on the utility bill

Only time we ever light candles is when there's a power failure, which doesn't happen that often. But even then, we usually use battery operated lanterns or touch lights or something.

 

I prefer regular lighting otherwise.

 

We sometimes burn citronella candles though, to keep mosquitoes out of the house. It works (most of the time). Too many mozzies over here

but I regularly burn incense for the scent.

I use candles to start fires, most of the candle is gone by the time the building is burnt down and nobody expects an arsonist with a candle.

Anyway, to answer the original question, personally, I don't like candles that much, I used to like them when camping but now I bring a car battery and have split the wires for a little halogen downlight I have, the steady light is far better, especially for reading which I do a lot of, light that flickers is just an annoying distraction that constantly reminds me of where I am.

I love candles! I love bath and body works! I love masking the smell of my stinky room and giving off the illusion that my room is clean and smells like a girly flowery fruity tutti room! <3 I don't use candle light to see though because I have a big pet peeve with not enough light. My mom cooks in the kitchen at night with no light and doesn't care that the light is almost dead and I've resorted to using a head flash light at times. Sad, but true.

Now regarding to your question, I don't use candless too often since I don't live in a slum and we can afford the light bill, but I sometimes use them in special occasions.

I do enjoy using candles, but usually to burn things. Lit candle+lysol=jolly good fun. My carpet would disagree though, which is why I no longer keep candles around. It's best to keep me away from fire in general.

I like to use candles for light. I have actually been, with candle light, and electrical light, all my life with being a Civil War reenacter for all that time. My dad makes lanterns for some of the sutlers and he said he'll show me how to make one. We also have a lot of bee's wax candles that smell like honey.

I like this idea of candle-lit internet usage. Now I'm no longer sitting in my room with the glow of my computer screen. I'm sitting in my room with the glow of Blackberry Spice candle (and computer screen.)

I don't use candles at all. Maybe a few when there is a power outage, but that's rare. I prefer regular lighting when doing anything.
