Which is funny, because the whole dumb idea about "different eras" or "different universes" or whatever was all about getting rid of ALL the old characters. Which even Rockstar thought was a stupid idea apparently because they went and did sh*t like bringing back radio personalities, the Truth, El Burro, the guy from Love Fist, the Families, Ballas, Aztecas and Vagos, and everything we all knew and loved and wanted back. Now, I mean, YEAH. We the fans DO appreciate all the new sh*t. We LOVE it. We just wanted to see MORE old friends from older games, and GTAV delivered. But I think Online took it a little too far. I personally loved the idea of Online as a prequel, and with that in mind, IT MAKES A LOT OF SENSE that most of the faces in it would be familiar. But, like, we only got a grand total of ONE new character, that Gerald guy. I think one thing they could do to improve Online would be to either bring in some totally new characters, or have some of the one-off characters do something important. As far as that goes, Leeroy, Stanley, Juan, Anna and Mushroom Hank didn't hardly do sh*t. Online was never meant to be Rockstar's strong suit. But with that being said, Rockstar is one of the few studios I actually trust to deliver top-shelf quality entertainment, so yes, even their online was good, I thought. Kind of. I mean, it's Online, so we can only expect so much, but the idea of incorporating elements that make it more like the campaign was such a simple yet brilliant one that it's a travesty that more game studios don't. Just "here's a gun, kill people, level up, get better gun, level up to the top and feel good about yourself hur hur hur" with no point, no rhyme or reason whatsoever, just a big stupid online circle jerk. But then when you go and do things like set up co-op missions and sh*t, you have to be just a little bit smarter in your design. I wouldn't say Rockstar is quite there yet, because so many other studios have handled co-op side stories so much better, but they did do a damn good job. If I had designed the game, there are some things I would have included in single player, such as: 1. The chainsaw. I love how brutal it is in Vice City, it should have been brought back. You could even use it to decapitate random pedestrians. 2. The ability to bite people while playing as Chop. 3. Being able to hang out with Wade and Ron off mission. It still strikes me as odd that you can't. 4. Vehicle creation. Think how awesome that would be. For example, after beating the game, you'd unlock a vehicle creation mode, so if you wanted a hybrid between a limo and a helicopter, you could have one. Sure it would be silly, but it would be cool at the same time. Of course, it would have to be really expensive (at least $200,000), otherwise it would defeat the purpose of jacking cars from NPCs.
