Drive/fly in front of the train. Approach from the side and jump towards the train cars. Aim for the flat cars, obviously. Viola!

For added fun, do this when you have a bounty. Watching people go all Cannonball Run after the train is pretty fun to see.

It actually stops in Online - there's a depot of some sort a on the eastern coast - the city-bound train stops there for a bit - easiest, safest way to get aboard.

When it's in motion, just walk up to the side and hit X and you're on. Most of the time...

Run up to one of the open trailers at the back and jump on. Easy. Amazing fun driving around with police helicopters chasing you ducked in the back too

Climb up one of the signals that go over the track and time your jump down. I stood on one of these when x2 bounties were riding the train and threw a grenade into their carriage.

Just walking up to a passing train and hitting the jump button will climb on board if you do it on one of the flat cars.

This.

Helicopter not required at all, unless you're trying to make it more epic I guess :)

Just wish when you killed the driver it didn't go on for eternity.

At least 45 percent of the fun I had in GTA San Andreas was finding glorious ways to derail the train.

Why must my simple pleasures be dashed in this incarnation?

Yeah I love the bounty thing on the train, better when there's a couple of you and you stand at either end, looks to the uninitiated like one is chasing the other on the map. Skydiving on to it is good fun too, especially when your friend fails miserably by overshooting the landing and getting run over by it. Still chuckle at that just thinking about it, such an epic sequence of events. You know for all it's faults, I can think of no other game that gives you such opportunities for random hilarity.

Get the Luxor from the airport. Fly to the train. Roll the plane upside down so you are "inverted", land upside down on the front of the train. Press X.

Or you could just jump on it when it chop-choos by. Either way.
