"Get a Life" is Stupid.

I'm here cause this is my first GTA game and I'm still a bit confused.And if u play this for 5-6 hours everyday like some people do, you probably do need to get a life.If not have fun with the game and merry Christmas.

To be honest a persons opinion about me always playing games doesn't concern me, mainly because it is an activity I enjoy doing, and I find it better then going out and smoking or doing pot or drinking.

 

Many of my friends play games as well as an activity, and I always talk to them and sh*t, and sometimes I go skating, but to be honest Gaming really takes up more time of my life.

P.S I don't Drink, Smoke, or Do Pot, I hate it to be honest.

Yeah same here, but when tell them that, then have soooo busy lifes, and have no time watching tv.. but the reality is, when they get home from work they only sleep in the couch and watching tv and feel bad about their lies.

Actually, I agree with the OP here. People don't KNOW why that someone is spending a lot of time playing games. Maybe they don't have friends? Perhaps they have a disability? Perhaps their loved one just passed away and they need a crutch to help get them through.
Here's one from personal experience. I knew a young man, got involved with hard drugs and crime. He messed up a few years of his life and came out of the 'institution' a changed man, telling how he wants to make something of himself. Well, he sits indoors now and plays games, because he can't trust himself when he goes outside. He ditched his friends and sits around alone, because he doesn't want to be tempted by idiots.
Everybody has their reasons for doing things. If you feel so insecure that you genuinely need to insult people, perhaps stop looking at the faults you see in their lives and start looking at your own. That is all.
Should probably add that the guy I know is being re-educated in college right now, he doesn't sit around 24/7 playing GTA expecting things to get better lol!

I agree there is no point of even saying that because its pretty much just saying that your doing something different from others that is considered excessively unpreformed just because your angry at a person for doing things excessively doesn't mean you have to degrade them to the point of which you say they need to get a life.

 

 

But it ultimately comes down to the person and they're personal beliefs.

@OP - Some don`t have a life and their only achievement in life is some meaningless accolade won in a game. More or less jobless, or with a job that doesn`t give them the satisfaction they want, no partner, less than ideal diet, no friends or very few, not very inclined to go out in the sun.

 

To those, a game is serious business - simply because they can`t find something more serious.

Most vocal Forumites are more or less a variation of the stereotype and don`t know better. You can easily identify them by their zealot like behavior and a hate towards anyone not playing the game like they do. They take themselves way too seriously.

I would like to remind all the people calling for bans, turning yourself in for "amnesty", or even the total character reset of everyone that in the big picture this is just a video game. This is definitely a "first world" problem, not a crime against humanity that some are making it out to be. This is on par with "They screwed up my order at McDonalds". You need to remember that there are people everywhere with real problems.

 

I never had a problem with the money glitchers. Jealous much? Even less of a problem now that they have shared that video game (imaginary) wealth with me and others. I have written ad nauseum at why I don't think this is a problem for game balance and don't wish to rehash it here.

 

I dislike that people are using god mode. I think they have some serious social issues (or are just really immature kids). Am I on here screaming for them to be banned? Nope. I deal by avoiding them secure in the fact that Rockstar will eventually get around to fixing the problem. I keep in mind that this is a video game. That on the scale of problem people are facing this doesn't even register. There are people starving, sleeping on the streets, being abused and assaulted. Murdered... and you want to bitch about the fact that someone didn't get their videogame (imaginary) fortune "legitimately"? So yeah I say get a life...

The problem with these noble lessons in perspective is delivering them on the sub section of a video game fansite of which you are a member. I'm sure when people want to discuss famine, war or whatever they'll go to the off topic, or heaven forbid, a different website like CNN, the Guardian or the McDonalds feedback dept which focuses on such issues. I agree that there's loads of basement dwellers and drama queens about (welcome to the internet!!!) But if they can't bitch about these issues here where can they go? Maybe you're the one who needs to lighten up/ go outside?

I see your point, but in all fairness, people can play GTAO/GTA V and still have a life. It all depends on how much you play it.

I tell people to get a life if they are obsessing over petty things that are not significant at all to them or anyone else in an attempt to bring attention to the fact that there are much bigger things in the world to care about and the individual really needs to "get a life" if their time is so worthless that they can spend it on something so worthless. It's an expression, not a literal statement of their heart stopping. From my point of view, the person who doesn't understand why I am telling them to 'get a life' is the stupid one since they lack the comprehension skills to know what I am saying.

In my opinion, people generally on this forum aren't saying "Get a life" to people who are playing the game sensibly yet spend a lot of time doing so. They tend to say it to players who take the game so seriously that they come in here bitching about some ridiculously trivial problem OR make comments that indicate they have some sort of complex where they believe themselves to be represented in some way by their character or its abilities. It seems to me to be a short way of saying that this game means entirely too much to that individual and they are borderline psychotic...that they should consider finding something else to do with their time.

 

Personally, I have a lady, 2 kids, nice home, full time job and plenty of spare time because the kids are grown the girl plays her own games right next to me and work is always over at 5. I don't like to dance, don't drink, don't get off on parties...I live check to check so movie theaters and sports venues are out of the question. Im getting old and out of shape so outdoor stuff is just a chore. I have no real friends because they always want something from you and I am pretty selfish. I choose to spend my time doing something I enjoy.
