Anyone here play with self imposed restrictions?

if i auto invite it often gets 1-2 people from the current session to join if im lucky. Then auto starts the job with a total of 2-3 of us in it and inevitably the 1-2 people that joined me end up leaving before it even gets started.

 

so much fun.

 

all while I can quick join a race and get the commute that fills up with 16 people within 10 secs. I will host the same race right after and get no quick joins only the 1-2 people from my lobby that choose to join. really sucks cause I love to race but everyone leaves that retarded catch up on and it should be turned off. Hate being out in first for 3/4ths of the races just to see some schmuck catch up based on my speed being lowered to retarded amounts the further out in front I am. Though sometimes it helps to be able to take turns full speed (albeit slow still) because I am in first while they try to take it full speed in the same car and spin out because they have the catch up speed boost.

@jack reacher... Motivated to do this right now, deleting rank 50 2nd character. A few questions for you if you could indulge please.

 

~Radar and blips off transfers to missions too?

 

~how do you spend cash on hand if you have the gifted monies are in shared accounts?

 

~would this be better done in free aim or auto aim?

I have radar off for missions especially, this is where your long term planning in free roam comes useful. It can be a bit of a pain on your first run, but you gotta learn the locations in the missions and learn how to get there from any point on the map. You will have to look at the map in the pause menu and learn how to travel to any location on that map without the use of a radar. I do this in loads of other free roam games like AC.

 

As for spending gifted cash, I suppose you could deposit the cash you want to spend on something into your bank account. That way its like you lost it. Once you run out of cash on hand doing this, you can't buy anything.

 

See sig for why I can't play you. As for free aim/AA, its really up to you, I personally prefer playing on AA because I treat this like a GTA game and its how im used to playing GTA.

I also added a few restrictions of my own.

 

~ up to combat pistol and sawed off only (plus knife)

~ max 3 explosives (not 3 of each kind)

~ sniper rifle (light)

~ no PV's

~ contact missions & simeon cars only for money plus store robberies

(no off the street car sales)

 

4 hours later I only got to rank 8 LOL, it's a great way to reinvent the game and practice looking around very quickly especially when you hear noises whoa!

if some of you guys are hunting low rank noobs and you get killed by them in a row… stop, check the GT, and see. It could be a second character of a solid veteran player sorry to ruin some of your fun gents but the obvious camp at Gerald's, clothing store, and honk and ram can be seen a mile away.

I decided to get rid of the money given to me by a hacker.

I already sold the 2 cars I've bought with it. The problem is that I spent a lot. I need $1.200K to retrieve the exact amount... This is quite amusing I guess...

When I'll got it, I'll get rid of all with a second character.

Then I will ba able to retry at nearly the same state as before.

 

This is the only restriction.

no tanks, no heavy weaponry ( i have used the rocket launcher, only when people team up on me, just to let them know im going easy on them by sticking to rifles) . and i dont spawn kill, i give a player atleast 30 sec to run, unless they start shooting at me before

If I am facing someone in a fight, I try not to camp, that way I can rule that out as an advantage. If they chose to be a campy bitch, they are only showing how they need the crutch. This restriction is situational since sometimes we need cover to regain health, reload, or find our target. And exceptions are made for activities like tank sniping.

You should find playing with radar off that you notice way more detail in the game as well, you will start using tall buildings as landmarks and you will feel like the entire map is your home.

 

What I usually do in a no radar session is hop on my SP no radar account and swap between it and my no radar MP account as I feel like it. That way you are essentially travelling around the map with 4 characters learning it piece by piece, that way if you spawn somewhere with a character and get bored you can always swap to the next without checking the radar.

 

Also because you don't know where jack sh*t is ( I try not to use the main map ever so I gotta find missions etc) you end up creating your own fun in free roam, you go on your own little adventures, every time you go out it feels like you are on some kind of journey.

I did it with some success too until I ran into a guy that was invisible, took the fun right out of it.

I think no radar/map lobbies would be friggen epic, its something I have wanted since GTA3. You could blend in with the crowd by walking like an NPC and waste rowdy players who drive by from cops.

 

Basically I think it should work like DM. If you kill someone, you light up on the map for a bit. To make kills more interesting, the player should drop everything they have on them, including guns, ammo, cash on hand, and their vehicle. So interactions will be rare since the map is so huge, but you can still do job and such without this penalty. I think this would make free roam so much more... epic.

Did you guys ever play GTA4 and turn off the minimap as the host? It was impossible to find anyone. The map was too big.

 

I think the best idea I've heard was to put a huge circle around each players general location like they do with crate drops, so you don't know exactly where they are, but you have an idea. We could say you are hearing it through police reports or from Lester. Whatever works.

My only restriction as such is that I always leave the session, by driving home to the apartment and making sure all the cars are in the garage before I leave...

 

Also if I get the text from Simeon I try my best to track down one of the cars and deliver it.

i set myself challenges, rather than restrictions... stuff like getting my akuma to places it should be, rooftops and the like... or the challenge of getting a bmx in the back of a picador, then picking it up with a cargobo, dumping it ontop of the maize bank, getting a friend to drive the picador off the roof, then bunnyhopping out the back of the picador to see how many backflips i can get in before i splat.... ive yet to try it with a last minute parachute bail out, but i will....

I don't put turbos on cars that wouldn't have them and don't tint windows in older cars (most of my garage). I also try to make them factory colors.
