Why do all apartments look like office buildings?

Maybe it's just me but this is really irritating me. There's one thing that's kept me from buying a high end apartment, and that is because they all look like office buildings rather than residential condos. WHY, Rockstar, with all the attention to detail you put into the city, WHY on earth do the apartments look like commerical buildings?

They look like office buildings because they don't have balconies. If they had accessible balconies you would be in your apartment but also in freeroam at the same time. This would complicate things for when people had the same apartment in the same session.

Nope, I live in the cornfield surrounded towns of the Midwest. The only modern things are new farm equipment, a Walmart, and internet.
