Does flying in helicopters increase your flying skill?

I know that in planes, every 10 minutes of air time is 1% towards your flying skill, so I was wondering whether this applies to helicopters as well. Thanks!

Yes.

Thanks, I wanted to know because to max out my flying skill, I currently have a helicopter in the air with a rubber band on the right stick and left bumper to stop the game for kicking fro idle. I'll leave it on overnight and tomorrow morning should be max-flying skill!

Did it work?

Well? Did it?

Lol, OP probably went to college and got married since he posted, wouldn't hold out hope for a response.

Replying yes to the bumper and leaving the thread without asking about the bumps when you clearly already know it was bumped because of a simple question

So did this actually work...has anyone else tried it?

I doubt anyone else has tried 'cos to be honest, it's a bit desperate (and sad) just to get the stats up.

Of course his helicopter could still be flying over LS with elastic bands on the controller.

Pretty sure it does - also, IIRC, smooth takeoffs and landings also contribute towards increasing your flying skill. In other words, try not to smash into stuff/have the canopy shatter/explode/bail out without landing if you want to maximise progression.

His controllers probably bust and he's too ashamed to ever reply. But at least his flying stat is maxed out.

As above, landing increases the stat too. So find a long stretch of runway and you can land about 10 times in a row. Alternatively, just get in a plane and fly until your own skill matches your characters.

It used to! none of my stats work properly ever since the transfer to ps4. Both psn accounts and all four characters got jumbled up stat wise.

I can tell everyone here that YES this method will improve your flying skill. I know this for a fact because I did it myself. Well, actually, I used duct tape instead of rubber bands.

Not that the flying skill stat really matters in this game, with helicopters always flying like there's constant gale-force winds going on.

No, really, this thing has better flight physics modeling than what's in this game:

Of course it works, but if you do that you haven't actually got any better at flying have you. I'm not saying flying a chopper in GTA is hard but some people are definitely better than others.

Use a plane and just take off and land on the runway for 20mins. Job done fs. None of this rubber band balls.

Used it, definitely works, went out for a few drinks with friends and came home to full flying stats. Pretty sure I enjoyed those drinks much more than I would have doing the boring grind of take off/landing for 20 mins. Also I already had full stats on my char on last gen, but didn't transfer her over as wanted a fresh start.

Actually flying in this game doesn't make you actually better at flying, either. It just raises a stat which makes the plane or helicopter more responsive to your control inputs and slightly less prone to random wild actions you didn't input. But it does absolutely nothing to teach you to fly better.

It worked great for me. I tried something similar for swimming but I ended up drowning :p

This seems like a greentext without being greentext.
