Do you think the cash cards are the reason for all this hacking?

Possibly, to an extent.

It was happening before the nerfing began though. And no matter what game or indeed any aspect of life there will always be people who are selfish knobheads.

Its a pathetic excuse to blame the cash cards/ nerfing thing though. "Wahhh the game doesnt play how I want it to so im going to cheat." Really if the game doesnt play how they want it to the should just go and find another game and stop ruining it for others.

I just hope you don't think I'm a cheater, because I'm not. Anyways I'm talking about the hacks who give money to others.

I didnt mention you at all... how would I know if you are a cheater or hacker? You say you are not so fair enough I believe you. I have no reason not to.

I do believe the cash card excuse from people who do cheat is BS though. Im seeing a lot of people even in this thread saying that they were level 120 and had millions by the end of week one. There is your reason for payouts being nerfed, not cash cards. They dont even push cash cards hard. There is a quick blurb on them on the loading screen and I believe the game will take you to the PS store if you try to buy something without having any money on your character? Other than that I wouldnt even know Cash Cards existed if it wasnt for this forum so I dont get why people are claiming that Rockstar are pushing their cash cards on people. It simply isnt true.

I guarantee you that if they hadn't kept nerfing the payouts in order to get people to buy their cash cards in such a broken-ass game, people would feel a whole lot less tempted to cheat.

While I don't agree with this, I'll try to understand from your point of view on this. Let's say that they did nerf payments and people were upset, okay, fair enough, but how exactly does that justify the godmode and making people go into debt? Both of which completely ruin the game for other players and not R*. Are you trying to say that because of R* nerfing payments( which I must add that they fixed the payment problem with 1.7) thay it is okay to godmode and making people go into debt by the billions?

I was very specific, I'm talking about the hackers who give others money

You didn't specify on the front page and when you did specify on this page it was after I had already posted. Edited by Themonsterhunter

this phrase was in my first post

''Maybe this caused some people to hack and that's why they're sharing money with us. They're not being generous, they're protesting.''

If anyone thinks cash cards are the reason cheaters hacked a game then they need to spend ALOT more time on education. Games without microtransactions are hacked all the time. Cheaters cheat. Not just in games but when ppl suck at something they look for a way to try and gain an upperhand. Street basketball the guy who sucks but is big fouls everyone and hacks on d. Losing at monopoly all the time. Try and be the banker and make some intentional bank errors in there favor. Getting owned in gtaO and cant make money bc your having to replay missions and losing every race. Use glitches and hacks to get money and rp.

The reason for the 'hacking' is that there are exploits in the game that have not been fixed yet.

That's what happens when hacking a game is easier and less time consuming than learning how to play it.

Yesterday a hacker gave me 99 million.

Today I spent all day fighting three tanks, wasting money on sticky bombing my cars and going kamikaze like no tomorrow. Most fun I ever had in Online.

I don't support hackers, but I'm glad I got that sh*tload of cash. Now I can enjoy the game the way I want instead of work work work 24/7 for only a stupid virtual car and quitting of boredom right after.

We all paid our $60, we should all be able to enjoy all the features the game has...

GTA IV, Manhattan locked until player put in several hours, and in some cases days to unlock it, personally, never bothered with it. Then, gay Tony is released, and voila, no grind, everything open relatively speaking. Agreed, buy a game, get to play.

Your 60 dollar purchase doesn't give you the right to circumvent the design document and cheat to acquire items. The sense of entitlement being displayed by the glitchers is almost beyond belief, but just because you paid for a game doesn't give you the right to hack it or anything else. Play within the boundaries of design, anything else is just cheating regardless of whatever self justifying circle Jerk logic you guys come up with. Go play something else if you don't like the design decisions rockstar made.

And cheating at a video game is a serious crime against humanity, right?

What's your point? Because cheating in a game isn't a crime against humanity nobody should give a sh*t? I'm not saying people should protest in the street over this, I am saying anyone who cheats is a dickbag.

Wtf, some hacker just donated 94mil to my account. Okay now there's mighty generous of them but I earned all my money fairly, got to a decent rank and don't want to be banned.

I don't need all that money and in the end it's going to ruin my online experience. I like working my way up the food chain bit by bit and now I've either got to submit a ticket to R* or dispose of this cash somehow..

*Sighs*

This is by far the most logical argument I've seen. It was known before the game even came out that online was deliberately designed to be slower paced and that you actually had to play missions and work your way up to get the things you want. People either didn't read or just didn't want to accept that this clearly wasn't going to be an updated version of GTA IV multi-player, so instead people just declared that the game was "too slow" and began looking for ways to gain cash as fast as possible so they could muck about in free roam. As a result, you had people leveling and becoming millionaires way faster than anticipated. This was made even more clear when people quickly reached the top and suddenly had nothing else to do because they had pretty much bypassed the entire point of the game. Thus, nerfs were made to slow the pace down so people would spread out what they were doing instead of focusing on repeating just one or two missions over and over. Cash cards weren't even working when the payout nerfs were made in the first place.

Maybe it's just because I play a lot of MMO's, but I actually enjoy the slower grind and I've never once felt that I've needed to buy a cash card. Even when I don't have enough money for something I want, I just head back out to do some more jobs until I do. Honestly, I wouldn't have even known the cards existed if I didn't spend time on various game forums. I would have always just assumed they were nothing more than a funny little radio ad in the game. It really isn't hard or even that slow to build up money if you vary your activities.

I'm sure there are some hackers out there who have convinced themselves that's why they do it. The term is "justification". But, they would have done it anyway, regardless of money cards or any other real or imagined cicumstance. As I recall, money glitching was going on back when money was easy to make, as an example. People did it simply because they could.

But as far as hackers giving money specifically, it's at least in part a diversion on the hacker's part to make the true hackers less easy to detect. If EVERYONE has millions or billions it makes things significantly more difficult to tell the hacker from the non-hacker.

So let's not even begin to paint these hackers as some sort of Robin Hood or morally upright protesters. They give away billions to pollute the waters, nothing more. It's not to help the poor down-trodden players from some evil corporation they are rightly protesting for the good of all man kind. It is a malicious and self serving act meant to throw off their own trail by making legit players look like the hackers.

I can't understand why people are obsessed with cashcards, if it wasn't for this forum, I'd have forgotten they existed long time ago. I remember my first day online, I was hooked on playing missions as it was like having extra missions to single player and it wasn't long before I had bought my first 2 car garage. The next couple of days I started reading about people grinding races/missions why ? why play the same mission again when you can just get another, there were loads in the phone and everyone was inviting back then.

Then a few days later R* reduced the pay out in jobs and to be honest, I didn't even notice because I was n't taking notice in the first place. Only people that grind were taking notice to what they were getting paid because it was so important to them. It didn't even take me a week to get a decent 10 car apartment full of decent cars with a few mods on each and a two car garage for my 2nd character which I had started. Even now with 2 characters both ranked 100+ and 10 car apartment, car, buzzard, boats etc I don't really ever think about cash, I just play the game and the cash looks after itself.

I really think that if more people had just got on with playing the game instead of grinding missions, glitching cars into their garages, pissing about in LSC and less time shooting people in freeroam but more time in DM, they wouldn't have needed to worry about cash cards. Why pay hard earned for something you can get for free. I haven't worried about money for weeks in this game. I have a million in the bank and it drops abit sometimes and then it's back up before I know it. I'm reaching that stage now where I get pissed off with all GTA games because I have money and nothing I really want to spend it on. For me, I would rather it had taken me a month to get out of a 2 car garage...where a 6 car garage is luxury and a 10 car apartment is only possible after weeks of hard playing. I like a game to be hard and cash cards are or those that have demanding RL jobs and little time to play.

Yes you should not give a sh*t. If you meet me in a the game (I'm a "legit" level 120) how the hell would you know whether or not I have 2 million in my account or 2 billion that someone gave me? How does that 2 billion in my account effect you? How does it give me an advantage over you? People keep saying that it was EASY to make money legit before the "cheats" started giving away billions. If it was so easy then what is the big deal? And don't give me: BUT!!! it's CHEATING!!!". How does that hurt you? That some other player has billions has no effect on you. Everyone IS entitled to enjoy the game the way they want. If Rockstar put out a buggy piece of sh*t expecting us to beta test then f*ck them. I'm quite happy to have the billion, and I hope you are happy wearing you "legit" badge of honor and grinding away.

People are entitled to enjoy the game however they want if they are glitching or cheating?

You are right you cant tell who has billions and who doesnt but It does affect people. A "legit" player may have say 100k on their bank account. That means they may have to think about using one of their sticky bombs or they may not want to use the costly RPG or send out some mercs to kill another player.

If you have billions there is no consequence to what you do. You go nuts and start launching everything you can at another player. More than likely a billionaire wont want to do missions or races (and if they do will have fully modded cars anyway) etc (some will for the fun of it, dont get me wrong) probably cant be arsed with survival mode etc either. So having tons of money certainly does affect other players. Maybe not in a totally obvious way, but it does.

Here we go again with someone dictating how everyone should play and enjoy the game. No one gives a f*ck if you've played lots of MMOs and enjoy grinding away for hours, days, years for imaginary digital items. That's you. I for one like to play video games casually. I get zero satisfaction walking my little avatar around my imaginary garage looking at my imaginary super cars. It is not an accomplishment, I play for the distraction and entertainment. If I spent hours, days, years playing the same damn game just to earn the right to drive my digital Entity like a legit player I would shoot myself for being such a complete loser.

And I still don't see your point. I don't see why Rockstar would care if people were hitting level 100 in 5 days or 5 weeks. They got their $60 so why do they care? Unless they want people spending more real money on cash cards maybe?

Surely if they wanted people to buy their cash cards they should advertise them better?

This is by far the most logical argument I've seen. It was known before the game even came out that online was deliberately designed to be slower paced and that you actually had to play missions and work your way up to get the things you want. You get upset over people apparently "dictating" how you should play the game when in reality it's Rockstar who designed the game to be played this way, because this is the successful long term progression model for an online RPG. My main problem with your posts is that you claim people try to "dictate" how you play just because you play a different way and yet in the same post you try to dictate how people should spend their time by downplaying someone who enjoys video games more than you by labeling them "complete losers" you are a disgusting human being and an idiot.

And why do they care? Because they want an online world for people to immerse themselves in for a successful long-run RPG, it was practically thrown in your face what they planned with GTAO but you're just too damn stupid to see that.

Spot on.

See this is what I dont understand. People ask how does them being glitchers etc effect people. People respond with how it effects them with valid reasons (seriously why would people make these reasons up?) and then they totally ignore the reasons given.

Why ask the question in the first place? Its a really weird way of doing things.

I can't respect people who can't do something as simple as comparing hacking in one game to another (or a few) to determine if cash cards are the reason so many people hack and then 'try' to make a thread about it. And on top of it all not only making a thread about it but making a thread about it on this forum with such a terrible community and some (not all) terrible mods.dogr.png
