combating Snow Traction issues

There was no sliding around on any tires. I was in my Cheetah which should be undriveable in snow and it was great

It is most notable on Muscle cars and the Futo. There is an effect, this is confirmed by rockstar in their Newswire and in-game announcement. I don't feel tires type makes a difference. Probably Placebo.

I did Lester's High Priority Case today. You fly a helicopter to top of Maze Bank.

Snow effects traction. Friction is messed with. Tires against the road for example. But in no way did it mess with flying a chopper so I wouldn't expect flying planes would suffer.

Sand (snow) king kicks ass in the snow. Finally got a good reason to use it

It's as good as it is in rain. In fact, I'm pretty sure all they did was set the traction to what it would be on rain. Now I wait for Abyss so confirm that. I always say maybes and probably, she is the brains.

I didn't find any difficulties driving my Cheetah in the snow, and being highly powered and light I expected it to be all over the place. Had a fun time messing around in free roam.

Managed an epic sniper shot outside Maize Bank as well.

You guys are actually struggling with the snow? For real? I mean... Really?

The driving just reached the perfect spot between tight arcade and GTA IV's loose steering style with the snow. Which, from what I could realize, is the same physics of driving in the rain, so I think they've just re-used the coding/programming/physics or whatever of that.

Oh, by the way, if your muscle-car is sliding too much or losing too much traction at launch, then stop accelerating like a maniac, that's how muscle-cars are supposed to behave. Remember any muscle car from GTA IV? Remember any other muscle-car with an actual good engine that you might have seen in real life? They're not meant to be acessible to the AVERAGE JOE to drive at high speeds, they require practice to extract their full potential. I wish the snow would last longer, just to see how you would do in races.

adding off road tires doesnt do a thing to performance. theyre for show. this thread is dumb

I jumped in my Dominator, put an elastic band on the RT, put the controller down and gave it a minute or so. Car never once found traction or straightened up - just long, lazy spinouts.

Anyway, tried the same thing again with off-road tires - same result.

Then I got sick of not getting anywhere and stole a passing Sentinel. Moved like it had ice skates for tires, hardly spun out at all.

Methinks all this 'traction in snow' kerfuffle is 'driver error'.

lol all my race cars have offroad tires before the snow and i can tell the difference on most cars. Muscle is wierd, it will forever slide

Just a theory: maybe the snow behaves just like rain. I think it's just rain that they turned white. They definately didn't recreate all of the textures in the game just so they could have snow for a few days. And the rain is also pretty slippery. I haven't played enough to really say if the snow is more slippery.

edit: wow I'm really late to the party.

Cars are a lot harder to drive in the rain. I hate when it rains online, as driving is extremely affected, especially when trying to take off in a car after smashing into someone/something/police officer in the way with a goal of ruining your fun.

It is most likely a filter to the textures.
