Resizing images automatically?

Images are automatically resized on the new boards. Try to post an image that is beyond the Full HD resolution, it gets resized to avoid stretching the page. This, however, is only the case with the width of the images - the height is not really limited, as far as I can tell.

So when I post an image I am not restrained to the 640x480 size limits of the previous board?

Well, no. Since large images are now automatically resized so they don't stretch the page.

Yeah, that's what I meant. When I use Google Images to find a picture I pay attention to the size of the image when I copy the URL, however I don't need to upload to imgur and resize now because the new board does that for me, yes?

Yes. When you post a large image, the boards will resize it for you automatically.
