Nailed it.

 

Clue 1: story inconsistency/continuity error/plothole

 

You can kill Ashley during Mr. Phillips, and this changes the subsequent dialogue with Wade, meaning that Ashley was meant to have the option to be killed and this is not a glitch or something.

However, even if you kill her, a news report later on in the game says that she died in a heroin orgy. This means Rockstar forgot to account for this news ad, and you are left with a continuity error/story inconsistency
