Yeah and I've also taken a liking to the Mac interface. It's my first ever Mac computer (beyond an iPhone) and I'm quite enjoying it.

I'm not totally ruling out Bootcamp, but I've additionally already paid for the Pages app and I don't want to buy Microsoft Word as I'm using it a lot for school.

Well, for instance, I play most games on bootcamp. Takes maybe 15 seconds to boot on my macpro. Swapping over isn't really a thing. Because you're running with limited hardware, I'd strongly reccomend bootcamp as it'll run the games natively, not using a wrapper or emulator.

This is a decent guide should you wish to stick to your guns, though!

Not really a Mac OSX question but given this is the iThread I thought I'd ask here.

I have an iPhone 5s and I really want to get GTA San Andreas for mobile when it releases, now the problem is I live in Bangladesh and when entering my credit card information there IS no option for Bangladesh.. Anyone have any idea what can be done about this?

Can I set my location to another country, but give my current billing address or something? It's like I WANT to buy products from Apple but I can't oddly enough.

I already faked my billing address without a credit card so I have the account set. But when I'm buying stuff I have to use a billing address of a country which is in Apple's database. Bangladesh is not one of them so I'm left stuck.

But you've given me a fantastic idea, I could simply get an iTunes gift card and purchase stuff without needing a card at all, the site you've linked looks fishy so I'll just get it from the store 5 minutes away from here.

Thanks.

I've been told by several people to grab the iPhone 5S instead of the Galaxy S4 :D

I guess that's what I'm going with. I've only used one Apple product before, which was the iPod Touch (4th generation). It was my brothers, but he upgraded to a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3. I like using the iPod Touch so I hope I enjoy the iPhone even more :D This is my second smart phone (my first was a Huawei Ascend 2, what a terrible device) and I'm pretty excited.

Does anyone here actually have an iPhone 5S? Is it an excellent device?

I have a 64gig gold 5S and it's outrageously awesome.

The camera is reall quite good, the stock earbuds are a big step up from the old sh*thouse stock ones, the SoC is fast for everything except really buggy apps.

I was using the fingerprint scanner thing for a while but every now and then it wouldn't recognise my finger which is a f*cking pain in the arse and besides, no one else gets near my phone, so I turned it off.

The screen size is fine by me but I know a lot of assdroids think it's too small.

I have the 32 Gig Space Gray model and it's just fast, it's very very fast. I really like the App selection from the Appstore, the playstore still just isn't good enough. Sure the playstore has more apps but that doesn't mean they have the better apps. Display isn't a problem for me really, since you like the iPod it wont be a problem for you as well. Spock already talked about the camera but I've had no problems with the fingerprint sensor as of yet.

Can somebody help me? I have an iPad 2 running iOS 7.0.4 and I seem to be stuck at the confirmation part. How do I bypass this? Thanks.

So as you may know the iOS 7 jailbreak was released today for iOS 7.0, 7.0.1, 7.0.2, 7.0.3, 7.0.4, 7.1 B1, and 7.1 B2. Of course there are problems that need to be fixed but my problem is with evasion7 itself. It won't run. Its an APPCRASH event with an exception code c0000005. Has anyone else experienced this? Im using windows vista and I've installed the latest .net framework and tried running under Windows 98 compatibility but no luck.

Yeah. Evad3rs claimed they are gonna take out the Chinese app store asap. In believe that its only installed on your idevice if your language is set to Chinese or if you are in china. Many believe that something else could be packed in the jailbreak even if the Chinese app store is not installed with cydia but I disagree.

It seems like it's included, regardless, though you can remove it,

What's troubling to me is that evasi0n doesn't even seem to be fully aware of the contents.

@otter A company asked evad3rs to install it along with cydia and they agreed. So they were aware but I edited the post above yours with links

Totes, and I don't mean to keep railing about this, but this gives one pause:

We are happy that it was not overlooked by the community. We've been so heads down working on the code that we didn't see this. We are sorry. We will continue to monitor this issue and work to resolve it completely

What else "didn't they see" in this Chinese software? :p You know what I mean? I'm going to hold on until Cydia gives a thumbs up.

Guys, while Im searching the web, I thought I would post here. I have a 5S with 7.0.4, and ever since getting a new laptop (Win8) I can no longer add songs via itunes drag and drop. I have had to go back to my old laptop to do this and it's so frustrating. :( Any ideas?

Edit - Fixed.

Digital distribution is fun, but...

I bought a second hand '08 iMac some time ago. I don't mind buying the desktops second hand, particularly this one off a friend, knowing how it had been treated. Even though I'll be using it for work, I won't be pushing it to the max.

Anyway, I wanted to do a clean OS instal, especially because said mate didn't even bother to clear his data. I figured I might as well move to Mavericks. Downloaded it; all methods of creating a bootable drive failed, for some reason. I had to install Snow Leopard, update it, download Mavericks yet again, and finally install it. Ugh.

I was stupidly reckless with my 2013 15" MacBook Pro With Retina Display and dropped it, completely destroying the display.

Took it in to an Apple Store and I was told it would cost $700 for a new clamshell but they ended up fixing it up with the $700 part for me for free.

Add it to the reasons of why I love Apple.

Alright, something is wrong with my Macbook Pro Retina 13-inch (late 2013). Basically my trackpad and keyboard aren't working. Most of the keyboard buttons aren't working except for the spacebar, the brightness, and the volume. I have Mavericks OS X 10.9.5. I haven't spilled anything, it just stopped working.

Any ideas?

...failing that, have you tried an external mouse or keyboard? Do they work?

Yeah, several times. I did a few hardware tests and it's definitely an internal problem. Apparently its quite common among late 2013 retinas though, so I'm taking it to the Genius Bar on wednesday. I'm using an external keyboard and mouse right now, they work fine. It's a little annoying, but they'll do for like three more days. Thanks doe

Well, this will be a bit of a bump. I recently bought a used 2010 white unibody Macbook, model A1342, my first Mac ever, actually. After playing around with it for a few days, I got this Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable to hook it up to my BenQ XL2720Z monitor. It seems to work just fine, although I've noticed that 144hz is not availalbe; 60hz is the maximum refresh rate available in the system preferences. I've been using the monitor in 144hz for weeks in Windows, so I know it definitely works.

It's not that big of a letdown, but I was hoping that I'd be able to make use of my 144hz monitor with this Mac. Does anyone know how if there's a way to output 144hz from this particular Macbook? I saw via Google results that people were able to get 144hz output from their Macbook Pros via the $100 Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI adapter that Apple sells, and I was hoping I wouldn't have to buy that to get 144hz... is there any other way? Perhaps a software tweak?
