I have problems with my iPod so I though this'd be the right place.

Okay, it's a Mini, 6GB, and I've had it a good 2-3 years now. I have a mix of CDs and downloaded songs from Limewire somewhere and I find now that my audio from CDs is really quiet, whereas the "other" songs are way loud. Is my iPod broke, or is it something to do with the type of files I'm playing?

Try enabling sound check on the iPod and/or iTunes? You can also adjust the volume of each track while going under the song's info -> Options -> Volume Adjustment.

Yeah, I do use the volume adjuster but it doesn't seem to do anything... dontgetit.gif I'll see about the Sound Check though, thanks.

  • 2 weeks later...

Yeah, I have the touch. It's very nice, fingerprint magnet though. Just 1 or 2 mins after first touching it, it was a mess.

I'm getting a new iPod next week, and I'm giving my brother my old iPod Mini. Is it possible for him to have a seperate iTunes library on his account (same computer) without affecting mine? iTunes is installed on both mine and my brother's account already, but what I want to know is, will they be seperate libraries? Thanks.

Yes. My brother and I both use the same iTunes for our iPod's and the libraries appear in different playlists. eg. Jack's iPod Selection and James iPod Selection.

Ah, I get you. So if I were to be on my account, looking at my library, I'd see my brother's library in a playlist? Though wouldn't that mean his songs would be in my library also?

Question about the new third generation iPod nano (the one with video), I got one the other day only to find out it isn't compatible with my OS X, I have 10.3.9 and it says it's only compatible with 10.4.8. So the question is; do I have to bring it back and find a second generation nano which will work with my OS X, or is there some sort of emulator which will allow me to run it on my computer.

Any help is greatly appreciated smile.gif

That's probably a better question for MacRumors forums.

Upgrading the OS X would be useless, this G3 is about to die, so it would be a wasted investment. Were thinking about getting a G4 or G5 around christmas time, if budget permits.

I'm looking for a second generation nano now, but it's hard finding the one I want, didn't come up with sh*t on google. If anyone is willing to help I'm looking for a second generation, black, 4GB nano, maybe you guys will have better luck than me.

I believe the black 2nd generation Nano only came in the 8 gig version.

BuffaloSoldier

I just got a brand new 80GB iPod from Best Buy. I come home and connect it to the computer. The COMPUTER recognizes it no problem, and upon a reboot, it installs hardware and stuff. I installed a clean iTunes, yet iTunes won't pick up the iPod in the left bar. It shows up in My Computer and everything, and I'm confused. The iPod says "Connected" on it, and it will disconnect when I want it to. Any help? Thanks.

IM me if you have any assistance. Thanks.

ok here's a question for you lot...

At the moment I use a PC for surfing the internet, messing with my music, photo and video files etc.

But I am thinking about getting a laptop in the New Year and a Macbook is a possibility for me but I was wondering if all my files will be compatible with the Macbook (um, now would be a good time to mention I've never used a Macbook) I'm sure that files such as gifs, jpegs etc will work no problem but I was wondering about WMV. files and WMA. files. Most of my songs are MP3s but there are still a few WMA.s on my PC and it would comfort me if I knew I could take them with me to a Macbook. Also any general views on the Macbook would be appreciated, for example how accessible it is and what's the best Mac programs out there etc etc.

Yes everything will work, you'll be shocked at how easy the learning curve is as well.

Quicktime can play all of your WMV files fine when you install the Flip4Mac plugin from Microsoft.com

Also, iTunes will automatically convert your wmas to mp3 or mp4/aac when you import them.

OS X is hands down the easiest and best OS to use. So much better than windows. Once you switch you'll wonder why the f*ck you waited so long. les knows what he's talking about when he says its really easy, I just helped to convince him to switch to a mac (macbook tounge.gif) earlier this year.

Also, anyone get Leopard yet?

Leopard tomorrow, I have to go to circuit city to get some DL disks. Spaces are my #1 (and maybe only) reason for upgrading. I just hope that you can set a hot corner to activate the switcher, because I heavily depend on my other corners and my bottom right is very lonely. If not, I'm sure someone will make a haxie.

I'm hoping on getting Leopard this week or next week, depending how the paypacket turns out!

Macbook still running sweet as a nut, I love this thing more every day. Hassle free computing, what more could I ask for?

Thanks for the info guys. I am really swayed after watching the Leopard video on the Apple site and what you guys are saying it's just that price tag that is really putting me off at the moment, but Christmas is coming up of course.

I've just got myself an 80 GB Classic Black iPod and since I've been accustomed to the black and white days of my Mini, I've a couple of questions.

1. I'd love to have album artwork on show when I'm playing my songs, and while some have artwork, I can't figure out how to apply artwork to other albums. Is there a way I can upload pictures from a folder for use as album artwork?

2. How do you put videos on your library? Do you import them from a folder? Also, is it possible to save videos from URLs and put them on your iPod, like from YouTube or something?

Thanks for reading.

The artwork gets stored with the music file itself, so to add it through iTunes, you'd right click on the song -> Get Info -> Artwork tab -> Add, and add whatever you want it to be. If you want to do it by album at a time, select all songs (shift + click) in the album, right click -> Get Info, and double click inside the box that says Artwork on the right, then choose the picture file.
