I think the nano mockup is pretty f*cking cool looking, and if the interface shots are real that's also a big step ahead for the current nano (hell, even the current video ipod). I'll be watching the keynote tomorrow when I get home from work, we'll see if apple gets any of my money this month. If I'm not super impressed with the new ipods I'll probably just buy the current model for a (hopefully) steep discount. Either way, I need something for my car; CD's a f*cking lame.

f*ck yeah I am buying an iPod touch.

I just bought a 30 gigger as well, oh well that can be my car iPod and the touch can be my uni/workout/home iPod.

SORTED.

Big news being the iTunes WiFi store built into the touch for those who buy music.

It's nice they're using flash memory and all that, but who would spend that much for 8gigs, even if it is touch.

I'll keep my iPod for the next 5-10 years, then I'll buy an iPod Think, or whatever is out by then.

I'm definitely getting the iPod Touch. Some of the things I liked about the iPhone was the ability to set your own wallpaper and the ability to connect to the internet via wi-fi. Now, I can finally do that on a regular iPod without paying out the ass for a sh*tty phone plan. icon14.gif

It releases on September 28th.

Reminds self: It's overpriced and will probably cost less soon. It's also got not much space compared to the 'classic'

meh the ipod touch is cool because of the touch, youtube and browser but 8gb are you kidding me for $300? that is way too f*cking expensive. i mean it doesnt really surprise me but ah well, as for the 80gb video for 250 that is insane, great deal

I'm assuming Apple went with a flash-based player was to keep battery life optimized for the iPod touch, as well as make it as thin as possible. Who knows how thick it would have been if it were a hard drive?

Besides, as long as this takes off, when technology improves, I'm sure we'll be seeing much bigger versions of it in the future.

It would've been nice to have it available in at least 30 gigs like my current iPod, but as far as I know I haven't even filled up 8 gigs of that one yet, and I doubt that I'll ever exceed more than 14 gigs, that's why I'm going to go with the 16 gig version.

Hey, it beats the price of an iPhone, plus my current iPod is getting a little banged up. So I've decided that it's time for a step in a new direction.

I have to admit, the new iPod Classics are looking sleekishly sexy. If for some reason I can't get an iPod Touch, I'll go with the Classic.

With the new iPods announced, I think I'm getting a 2nd Gen iPod nano before they are replaced by the 3rd Gen ones. notify.gif Not that I don't like them, but I just think the 2nd Gen nanos are plain sexier (especially the black one). inlove.gif

The new iPods look amazing, I heard they got some edgy stuff on them (especially the iPod touch, which can connect to iTunes Store and YouTube wirelessly... maybe they got the wireless idea from Zune notify.gif ).

They are know doubt amazing devices, I just think they should have waited for a 32gb solid state drive before releasing them. And launch the 16 and 32gb ones as opposed to 8 and 16.

Wireless is definitely a plus...

Sounds great in theory, but the solid state drives will be a lot cheaper and more feasible next september when they do the yearly refresh on the ipod lineup. I've been thinking about just getting the 8 gig nano until then, it's better than f*cking with all the scratched up CD's in my car. Besides, you can pretty much sell anything with an apple logo on it for at least 75% of what you paid for it.

  • 2 weeks later...

iPhone has been released in the UK. It's £269 and they choose O2 as their carrier. Oh, and it's not 3g yet. They're looking to update to 3g next year, providing the chips can improve their efficiency.

Yeah, this is what stopped me waiting before I got the Nokia N95 which is still miles better.

Apart from space, but still can use cards, I have 2gig micro SD.

I do like the look of the iphone though, maybe when 3G does come out it will be time for me to upgrade again icon14.gif

ipod touch seems to have an identity crisis. Apple has many things in the code to edit to make a difference between it and the iphone.

I would love to get an iPhone, and am really looking at one (I was thinking of getting a new nano), but first I want to see a 3G update and double or maybe triple the capacity (my videos folder is 16.43gb alone). I have a CU500 currently, bought it a year ago, but it has horrid battery life with 3G enabled, so I made a tough choice, and disabled it, which gives me about twice the battery life.

Maybe they can throw in a MicroSD card slot, so I can finally use my 1gb card (which wouldnt you know it, does NOT work in my CU500 "it's too thin" as cingular claims).

So yeah, in a year or so, I will own an iPhone. To think I did not like it when it first came out, I guess I just needed to play with one for an hour in an apple store.

Plus, it will get my .Mac email on it biggrin.gif

Just got my iPod Touch in the mail today. It's actually pretty cool. I'll have to post my impressions on it later, right now it's copying everything from iTunes so I can't do jack.

I have problems with my iPod so I though this'd be the right place.

Okay, it's a Mini, 6GB, and I've had it a good 2-3 years now. I have a mix of CDs and downloaded songs from Limewire somewhere and I find now that my audio from CDs is really quiet, whereas the "other" songs are way loud. Is my iPod broke, or is it something to do with the type of files I'm playing?

Try enabling sound check on the iPod and/or iTunes? You can also adjust the volume of each track while going under the song's info -> Options -> Volume Adjustment.

It has to do with each of the songs being recorded differently and being encoded differently. Different encodings and different dB's lead to quieter and louder songs.

Dya think it's possible to get an iPhone from germany, and load a UK T-Mobile sim into that bad boy? Well, once they put a 3g chip in, and well... make it decenter.

I'm still in love with the looks though, but my E61 can copy and paste, and damnit, it's a useful feature.

Besides. I'm still hoping to get Mac on my new laptop in the hope it'll stop me from shelling out another few hundred pounds that aren't in my paycheck.
