Starting to snow online

I wonder if NPC's will be wearing winter clothes and whether cars will get covered in snow. Maybe the Alamo sea will even freeze over.

I would guess the cars will get dirty, the same as when driving in the desert.

What timezone is R* using,

NY time?

GMT (UK). Should be about 4 hours and 12 minutes until snow starts dropping!

GMT? Great, I was worried if they used EST because my local time is 30 minutes off from New York's so I didn't wanted to wait that long.

3 hours and 5 minutes left!

I'll ask again, how is this going to be done? Will it be done via a patch or DLC, or do they have some way of triggering it in real time, on the fly, so to speak?

Cars do not get dirty and pedestrians will wear regular clothing. The only difference I have seen is that the towels and umbrellas at the beach are all gone, but at the same time NPC's in bikinis are still spawning there. The Alamo Sea does not freeze over, I'm not sure about smaller waterways.

It was all in the last update like the clothes that released today, so I'm guessing if you start a session after midnight UK time, it will be snowy.

2 and a half hours from now & we should have a white blanket covering San Andreas. Hopefully driving physics are effected.

After a quick google search i found this:

GMT is an absolute time reference & doesn't change with the seasons.

Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) was established in 1884 at the International Meridian Conference, when it was decided to place the Prime Meridian at Greenwich, England.

Possible explinations for them to decided to go off GMT instead of EST.

I wonder if the servers will cope with the amount of people trying this out at midnight GMT.

I don't think this will be a repeat of October 1st. Many people are away and cannot play GTAO at the moment.

Many are out doing things, I won't be able to try until 9-10 est tonight

The most important part of all this is that it means that Rockstar is able and willing to make GTA0 a dynamic, living world. That will be a great thing. It gives replay value just in keeping up with the changes.

This is great, because it shows Rockstar is giving care to the community and slowly trying to establish it and prosper, as well as expanding it to make it more immersive.

Are we sure that the snow is not tied to the date + time on your console? After all, it's been Christmas Day in Australia for awhile now.

Anyone from the other side of the world with snow?

I don't want to go back and read all the other posts, can someone tell me the time that the snow will start? I'm EST.

No, the time is tied to Rockstar's servers, which is GMT.
