So, this is an interesting album. This is Escalator by Sam Gopal, otherwise known as Sam Gopal's Dream. The band were a fairly underground psychedelic rock band founded in 1966 by founding member Sam Gopal (who would have guessed), born in Malaysia. From the age of seven he played the tabla, a northern Indian percussion instrument which replaced drums in the band.

 

What's interesting is this features lead/rhythm guitar and vocals by none other than Lemmy. Eagle-eyed purveyors may have already spotted him on the front cover. This was their first and only release. Lemmy, credited here as Ian Willis, was not part of the original line-up but joined just prior to recording this album. If anyone is interested in exploring a more hidden side of Lemmy's discography, this is definitely worth a listen.

Found out about this little gem, La Luna by Swedish new-wave artist Peter Stridh. It's like a cross between Gary Numan and Bauhaus. It wins bonus points from an online community point of view because there's a cat in the artwork.
