No offense, but I know plenty of musicians who loathe this piece of music. It's overplayed. Especially at weddings.

 

Anyway, I'm listening to an Adam Lambert album. Not a huge fan of his solo work, but it's catchy as hell.

Friends and family, and I'm a musician myself. No doubt it's beautiful music. Johann Pachelbel was a splendid composer of the baroque era. But I've lost count of how many times I've gone to a wedding to hear Canon in D being played. After a while you can't help but stop and think "this again?!" It's become a bit comical, really. Again, that's not to say it's not beautiful music. That's why so many couples choose it. It's become the default choice. My wedding is coming up shortly and I downright refused to use it. There's a whole wealth of beautiful music composed by him.

 

At any rate, this conversation got me listening to Pachelbel again.

 

Currently listening to Chaccone in F minor.

Funny enough I actually agree with you.

@Queen: I think "overplaying" music is comparable to overusing lines from movies ("You talkin' to me?" , "I love the smell of napalm in the morning" etc.),

it undermines the artistic merit.
