What Are You Listening To Right Now?

After reading W3BB13's rant thing in the "rate the song above you" thread as to how "It's not like any of us really care what others think of the music that we listen to, I decided" and "nor do any of us really want to have to listen to someone else's sh*tty music that we don't like before we can post a song of our own". Seeing as that makes sense, without further ado, here's the "What're you listening to right now" thread, where we post what we're rocking out to.

Right now, I'm listening to this:

I don't know but I remember we do have the same topic of this as well. Anyway...

Listen to this one, the most haunting track I've been listening to.

Another one is a Filipino Christmas Station ID song I've been listening for five hours.

The only thing about this thread is that others have tried it, and there's always those guys who come in and say "REALLY? did we need another thread like this?" and then the moderators proceed to lock it and then we're back to that same sh*tty "rate the song above you" thread.

But yeah, I'm all for this thread because like I said, nobody gives a sh*t about rating music that other people listen to.

The reason I don't think these threads work is because they do the same thing as the pre-established Rate That Song topic. Rather than expound on your music and share opinions with one another, you do basically the same thing as in the other topic, except you don't even feign interest in each other's music choice. What's the point of a topic like that? It's masturbation. There's five responses to this post and no one even acknowledged anyone else's videos.

Either way, I'll let this go on with this post as a warning: if I catch this becoming a festival of circlejerking I'm going to lock this and you'll be back where you started.

Then why even bother posting in the thread? After all, you don't give a sh*t about rating other people's music or people rating yours.

Obviously you can read, just not sure you can comprehend what you're reading.

Like you pointed out yourself, I don't give a sh*t about rating other people's music or people rating mine, hence why I don't see the sense in posting in the other thread. Why would I not post in THIS thread if I don't have to bother rating other people's music in here? You pretty much answered the question yourself ;)

How could this turn into "circlejerking" if nobody cares about what everyone else is listening to? How can ignoring other people's interests be considered "circlejerking"?

I understand your point about the "Rate The Song Above You" topic, but why must we act like we give a sh*t about other people's musical interests when we honestly couldn't care less? The only reason most of us acknowledge the musical interests of others in that topic is simply because we're required to, not because we actually care.

If someone does post something that we share an interest in, than of course we might want to quote their post and acknowledge what they're listening to, but 99% of the time people just reply with "meh, 2/10, not my cup of tea" and then proceed to post their own song.

Just my two cents. It doesn't matter to me either way.

No, you're the one who cannot comprehend what he's reading. I was referring to you posting in the ''Rate the song above you'' thread. If you don't give a sh*t about rating other people's music or vice versa then why did you even bother posting in that thread anyway? Obviously you wanted someone to rate your songs, otherwise you wouldn't have bothered posting in the thread at all.

It doesn't make sense that you'd post in this thread either, because why would you post a song in here only for nobody else to acknowledge it? It seems a bit pointless, doesn't it?

Although this is country-sounding, it's still good. I heard it in "O Brother where art thou"

Okay. What's the point of this topic? Why does it need to be a topic? Forums are designed for interaction, not mindless listing and updating people with a feed of what you're doing. At least, not this forum. I don't care if you only acknowledge other people's taste because you have to -- that is the point. It's either that or no one even recognizes anyone else's opinion unless they wholeheartedly agree, which is stupid. You might as well not even be here if you don't want to find something new or share something you really like with others, and you can't do the latter if everyone is so stuffed up their own ass posting about things they like and ignoring everything else.

Are you pissed off just because someone rated a song you posted 1/10?

While I usually listen to a little of everything, mostly everything between hard rock and punk, I've never been much into anything electronic. However, I've recently started listening to Celldweller, and I will say that Klayton is an amazing musician. I'm glad he does a lot of video game OST or I wouldn't have heard of him.

I've been listening to a lot of the Talking Heads' fifth album, Speaking in Tongues. It's a great album opens up with one of their first major commercial success singles, "Burning Down the House" and the album continues to present that wacky, new wave sound with impeccable production and out-there lyrics. Anyway, these are the two favorite songs off the album for me.
