unopescio
Wow I'm pretty much in love with this show after only 4 episodes. I too was laughing my ass off at Chuck running around in the space blanket and the whole "buttholes" routine in the flashback. With luck saul will gain enough steam to last 6 seasons like BB. krashr
El Dildo
at this point I've seen the first 3 episodes. and it's safe to say that this is awesome. I really hope we'll get some big cameos going as the show begins to gather momentum. they gotta' bring back Bill Burr, among others. krashr
Jonesizzle
Both Bill Burr and Lavelle Crawford need to return for more than a cameo. bread, Murray Bunyan, krashr and 2 others

mr quick
It's like a more exaggerated and cheeky version of Breaking Bad... ....Which is exactly what I was hoping for. For the first time in my life, I'm excited about something contemporary.
SimsDaniel916
This episode was a bit on the boring and slow side but it looks like next week's episode will focus on Mike. Can't wait! Jonesizzle and Tikhung

Jonesizzle
I'm gonna be interested in how Mike gets involved with Mr. Fring. I think it's pretty clear he doesn't work for him, and we'll see what old bones Mike has coming out the closet.
BUT THE BENZ
Oh hells yeah, I have 5 episodes of that genius show to swallow at once. I will be so stuffed.
Ottae
I'm gonna be interested in how Mike gets involved with Mr. Fring. I think it's pretty clear he doesn't work for him, and we'll see what old bones Mike has coming out the closet. Yeah, at first I thought the parking booth was just Mike's day job, with the added bonus of keeping an eye on criminals who might be of interest to his Private Investigation line-of-work. But from what we've seen, it looks like he's fresh from Phili and trying to lie low. It looks like Mike gets into private investigation through Saul. If not, then we'll at least see how. Jonesizzle
Yeah, I was always under the assumption Saul has no clue of Gus Fring, but I'm wondering if Saul somehow pulls strings to get a job for Mike. krashr
another great episode. it was good to see mike's story, the only thing i thought was a bit messy was- there would likely be mike's blood at the crime scene too
bread
That was the best episode yet. This show is really, really good so far. Abel.
ll rdny ll
Nobody else is upset that they took Mike from a stone-cold bad ass, and made his backstory that he was a dirty cop who killed two other dirty cops because they killed his not-dirty cop son? I was actually hoping that the story Mike told Walt in Breaking Bad was going to turn out to be his Daughter/her husband. That would have been a lot more meaningful. Abel.
I actually thought this explained Mike's stoicism and commitment to his granddaughter exceedingly well. I really don't see how the episode makes him appear less badass. Excellent episode. Edited March 12, 2015 by Failure krashr
ll rdny ll
But, having Mike be directly responsible for his daughter's death, would have made more sense poetically. As it stands now Mike was indirectly responsible for Matty's death , and just went into full revenge-mode. I'm not saying that nobody should like it, but for me, it wasn't enough. The story for those who don't remember, was that there was this guy who beat his wife. She winds up in the Hospital, and Mike takes this guy for a drive puts a gun in his mouth and says the next time he hurts that woman, Mike is going to kill him. The woman was dead within a month. If this woman had turned out to be his daughter, it would have been truly gut wrenching. I just feel that this would have been the better story to roll with. The real story, the one we got, just doesn't resonate with me.
Vanilla Shake
I agree with Failure. Plus if it was his daughter that was getting beat, I highly doubt that Mike would let him live, regardless of the fact that he was a cop at the time. The real story, the one we got, just doesn't resonate with me. That's a fair point. The issue is that it doesn't set up the potential for an episode like the one we just had. These days TV shows tend to focus on the quality of a season rather than an individual episode, so getting this self-contained, brilliantly made episode explaining the backstory of one of our favourite characters was a great surprise. mr quick

Ottae
Hell of an episode. It could stand alone as a one off drama. You could watch this episode start to finish without needing to know anyone beforehand. But because we do know Mike and what kind of man he is in Breaking Bad, this gives us a huge insight into what makes him. He's never pretended to be a good cop and I never thought he was, so I wasn't surprised to learn he was on the take. Because he's directly responsible for his son's death, it makes it so much more obvious as to why he's passionate about getting money to his grand daughter. So what the writer's wrote made more sense, although ur theory isn't bad.
