RJ250
Hey Guys, This question is as old as the age of GTA IV. Here is my rig- Model - Lenovo Ideapad Z570 OS - Windows 8 Professional 64 bit Processor - Intel Core i5-2430M @2.40 GHz Max Turbo Frequency - 3 GHz RAM - 4.0 GB (3.9 GB Usable, Only 85 MB is system reserved) DirectX 11 Video Card - Nvidia GeForce GT540M (2 GB) with Optimus Technology I ran the can you run it test here http://systemrequirementslab.com/cyri and it gave a full green mark that I can run this game smoothly at max settings. But It lags. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks GTA Forums
ChumCrumpet
I don't trust that SystemRequirementsLab. They once told me my PC couldn't run L4D2 at all... Lol. One thing you have to realise is while you can run a lot of other games, GTA IV was an absolutely terrible port. They really didn't go a good job on this at all, so while the game won't look amazing it's asking more of your computer than another game would be that's ported better. If you're wondering why it's lagging when SRL said you could run it, it;s just because SRL is inaccurate and can never really tell if a game will run because of loads of different variables to why a game might run slowly on your rig. Girish
GTA IV will not run smoothly on your system at max settings. You'll have to bring them down a few notches.
RJ250
Girish, I know that my system can't run th game at max settings after I played the game. But I know that my pc has enough juice to run the game at medium-slightly high settings. But It lags as hell. I have my nvidia drivers updated to the 331.82 version (latest). And I have done the manage 3d settings in the nvidia control panel
