Is it just me, or is anyone else having issues with grappling down from a helicopter once picked up by merrywether

 

I know your suppose to press and hold X, but more often then not I'm not prompted and can't do it, leaving me with no other option then to jump out even when im only 30 feet off the friggin ground.

 

wtf am I doing wrong?

I've literally never done it, so I can't help you with that. In fact, I didn't even know it was possible, so thanks for the heads up. :)

Oh, and I think the term you're looking for is rappel, not grapple.

No you don't have to wait.

 

The Rappel option only shows up when the heli is over, and relatively close to a roof. When I used to live in the Eclipse apartments, I would call for the pickup then rappel onto the apartment roof, then jump down to the street.

No you don't have to wait.

This is quite correct, I've just tested it and you need to have a clear roof to rappel to.

I've rappeled down to the ground, from a fairly high altitude too....

 

This was a few patches ago though so something may have changed.

Why all the hassle? When you call a heli just shoot the guy in it then take it, problem solved ^^.

You are beyond absent minded. Before you knew you could rappel, did you know you could rappel?

When was your moment of revelation? was it when you learned you could rappel? or was it prior?

Mostly because I have only used the heli pickup 7-8 times and 6 of those, I killed the guy and took the heli.

I had no idea you could do that either and I use merryweather a lot. I had always avoided going over roofs for an easier parachute jump.

yeah but you have to wait while the MW pilot takes you to your destination and warp factor slow motion and listen to his inane babble! I swear I once jumped out without pulling a parachute just to get away from that boring f*ck

That sounds EPIC! First thing I do when I get off the toilet, is firemen sam my white ass from a chopper. Niggas be like "derrrr he goes! :']"
