I was curious to see how many of you try out other folks deathmatches and races.

I, for one, enjoy trying out new races especially. There are some competent race makers out there, but there are also people that have no idea what they're doing. I like to reward the good ones with likes and vote down the ones that were slapped together with all the forethought of a fart.

Also, if it's cool with the mods, feel free to link any races or DM's that YOU DID NOT CREATE that you enjoyed enough to play more than once, or perhaps bookmark. And try to explain why you enjoyed it in particular.

Honestly i couldn't be bothered sorting through them to get the good ones, too lazy.

I'm happy to hear some recommendations though.

I voted no although I have tried one or two.

The descriptions are what turn me off.....

"Are you ready for the most mindblowing life changing f*cking radical awesome gnarly f*cking race around Los Santos/Horse track of your f*cking LIFE?!?!?!?!"

No.

I just join them randomly via the quick job menu. It's a crapshoot, but when it pays off, it's super rewarding and I'll bookmark any good ones.

Yeah, some of the effort put into these ranges from "blugh" to "omgz!!!". I try and make mine as much like an official Rockstar job as possible. Here's an example of one of my races descriptions, "Ballin' and Driveshafts" (shaped like some nads and a wang);

"Test your manhood and ball down the highway in a tight, professional lap race. Give your opponents the shaft and scratch that special itch... for winning."

Yeah, I've seen more than a few of those. But honestly, most of the deathmatches I've played were at least decent.

I always host. Thanks to COD, I never trust anyone else's connection. I don't plan on playing anything made by the community. I just have no patience for some random noobs attempt to be creative. I've played shooters for a long time and know what a match needs to be entertaining. I am using this experience to build my own playlist for my clan. I don't want to sound like an elitist, but in this situation, my time is valuable.

Yes/Meh

I don't mind trying new DM/TDM maps but most of them seem to be ruined by people just hiding, it might be understandable because they aren't familiar with the spawns or the map but it can get unbearable at times.

And it's not like these issues are making me lose or anything, it's just really boring lol.

I understand, as I have several playlists made up of my crew's created content, and one made of stuff I've found and enjoyed from random people. Just don't sell everyone short, as there are some really good maps and races being made out there, and they shouldn't be lost in the pile, imo.

Only my friends ones. GTA has by far the worst community and most of the created contents are made by trolls and 13 year olds. Can't wait to try the Rockstar verified ones tho.

Same here. I'm really, really hoping to get at least one of my creations R* verified. I've put tons of work into them, and have gotten 90% good feedback on them (my most popular race has 40 likes and 4 dislikes).

I just wonder what the criteria is for being selected. How do they choose? Surely they can't go through every single one... Will they go off of likes? Number of times played? If so, how is that fair for those of us that don't have 500 member crews to upvote our maps for us?

The key to getting a lot of people to play your track is to call it something stupid and make it short and straight as possible.

In all seriousness, I played a lot of CC the first two days and got a bit bored of it. It's really fun playing some of the stupid tracks but it's getting to the point of people making long races and half way through the race they put a checkpoint behind one that you just went through on a highway where you wouldn't expect it. It's happened so many times now, it's just so the host can get some easy money and RP. I've given up on it after that. There's making difficult tracks with a lot of debris and then there's just having an extremely unfair advantage.

Ofcourse GTALegion!

I've done all the "regular" content so much that i needed some variety! :D

Just by trying out my own content with others got me around 100k in a very quick fashion, so cannot complain on the Rewards either!

When i look for random jobs, i try to find the custom content that really surprises you, and sometimes you find some goldnuggets among the rest

And i've also bookmarked alot of fun jobs found both here in the forums, or randomly found via quickjob or via random invites!

Have to bookmark all the golden nuggets :)

I've played some really good ones but they're all from people on my friends list. These are the only people I trust to create decent content.

I really hope they add a filter for quick jobs to allow you to only join Rockstar verified ones.

Ideally it should be

QuickJob:

All

Rockstar

Custom only

I really see no benefits from this content creator due to lack of talent from the community. It's usually just some generic race or deathmatch that I could have come up with in 5 minutes.

Or it's something broken like creators forging maps in their favor because they suck at the game.

Indoor deathmatches are all I'm interested in.

Same here, but with the races. I'll never have to do DTD or CR ever again.

I would refuse an indoor deathmatch every single time. I hate corridor shooters. Distance and aiming skills over first to shoot is my preference.

The thing I look for in deathmatches is location. Windfarm, sandy shores and zancudo swamps are epic.

Agreed. I've found some pretty great spots for some, like a boat launching dock up by the mountains and one of my favorites so far, on a beach/wooded peninsula called Beach Bullet Buffet. That one's gotten quite a few compliments.

It feels really good especially when a random person messages you that your map is better than any R* have made that they've played. :)

You just need to find the people that put effort into them, and try to make them balanced, yet challenging, like me. I can practically guarantee that you would change your mind.

Definitely. I mean, why not? There are definitely some talented people out there, who know what they're doing and aren't afraid to keep things small and simple. A lot of people just go big and use the entire prison map, or the entire airport in Sandy Shores. That sh*t's cray, yo. It'd be a shame to miss out on the good stuff just because of the majority of nincompoops. Fistfight only deathmatches? SURE, love em. Just don't throw cars in to the mix, numbnuts.

As long as you don't put shotguns on the map and force people to spawn with a certain weapon, deathmatches in the Humane Laboratory are quite competitive. Obviously deathmatches in Michael's and Franklin's house are for pure fun, as Rockstar's stupid f*cking spawn quota forces you to put a sh*t ton of spawns on the map that you don't want, eventually leading to unpreventable spawn-killing.

If the Lifeinvader building was doable that'd probably be my favorite map, but shame you fall through the floor when you enter it.

I've only ever came across one, and TBH it was ok. It was a race across a bridge, was going well until some obstacles and barriers just spawned out of nowhere and there was a 10 car pileup.

I've tried to invite people to try out my maps but sadly I've had no takers. :panic:

I'm having problems with one of my deathmatches at the minute. I'm placing my spawn points and team spawn points as per the instructions, however one team despite the spawn points being together, spawn far apart, in some cases spawning right in front of the enemy. Hopefully R* can fix this.

I try to make my races events. Like located in particular areas, with certain elements as the real star of the show. Like Hillbilly Hotwheels, a race I made that starts off in the sleepy little mountain town at the foot of Chilliad and winds it's way all the way around the mountain to the Alamo Sea. Or the urban race I made in the 'hood that includes a stop at Burgershot's drive-thru. I try and make them unique and memorable, not just "here's two checkpoints on either end of the map, fend for yourself."

Where are all the "yes" people on my races? I rarely get people to join and I take an hour at least to make races (4 so far) including scouting, placement, description and everything.

I even made them at different levels of skill form DTD spammer to Through the Grapevine enjoyers. Still so little plays...

What really grinds my gears though, is when I get a f*cking down vote on my carefully crafted race and some asshole who made a complete clusterf*ck or merely ripped off a R* race and added no description, took a picture of the f*cking sky and spam hosts their races gets ALL up votes...

Yes, I am butthurt about that, I'm man enought to admit it.

Because this game's matchmaking sucks.

You have to have your lobby at least half full before players start to pile in. I had to invite a bunch of my friends to my Humane Labs map so randoms would start joining.

The way around unpreventable spawn killing is to make the maps large enough that people don't cram into one spot. This is why I don't do indoor deathmatches.

This is where it pays to have friends. But sometimes I've been lucky. Yesterday I started a playlist of my races called the Lotus Cup, and I had 2 shy of a full lobby. They all stuck around for the entire thing (12 races) and gave all my tracks upvotes, too.

The only thing I hate is when you get that one guy that lands a bad jump, misses a tricky turn, etc, and downvotes because it made them lose. I, for one, enjoy playing races to familiarize myself with them, and learn to handle these obsticles. It's a big part of the fun for me; racing a track enough to get familiar with it and learn its nuances. Y'know, like a real racer.
