Markshr00m Posted December 16, 2013 Share Posted December 16, 2013 I've read quite a few posts both here and on neogaf saying that R* making a next gen version of GTA V is more a matter of when rather than if. What do you guys think? Will we see a next gen version on PS4 and Xbox One? If so, when do you think it will be released? With the money that has been made from GTA 5 (3 Billion I Think?) it's either gotta be dumped into a more better next gen version or into GTA 6 but not a DLC, that would cost like half a million at the most? I now think that a next gen would have to be the same as this gen (that everyone still has because of this game) just so that Rockstar doesn't disappoint everyone that plays this game, most specifically the fair few of people that still prefer this gen. GTA 6 is definetly gonna be on next gen however. It happened with every single new universe. The next gen stuff is easy to port to and if they are doing a pc version then it would be a small matter to also do next gen. It's kinda separate thing planned besides both game modes. Some may not feel that important but could indicate some announcement about solely GTA V. Could be a PC/Next Gen or none of them. And if they are bringing the MP portion over – which is the exact same map, same world – why wouldn't they do the whole game? My guess: a GOTY version released some time next year with all the DLCs and addons. They might actually be developing the PC release as we speak and then optimizing it for next-gen consoles. My second guess: this is all just guesswork. The track record for porting games (quickly) is pretty bad for R*. Why does it mean that? Games are still released for the PS2. Development and support for the PS3 didn't stop the moment the new gen was released. They have no obligation to provide for the new platforms, it's just more of an obstacle to getting a new game out.
